sledwood Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Hi, I'm new to this Forum but have been building for many years. I have a Tam. Mercedes CLK-GTR kit that I have been trying to finish for a couple of years now. I made the mistake of getting involved with detailing it. I know that Scale Motor Sport stopped making that great detail package they produced back when but I found a set from Studio 27. Problem is, I've knocked myself out trying to find reference material on this Race Car but I'll be a monkey's daddy if I can find any. I know this kit is being re-issued but I don't know if there will be enough interest to get any of the big Mfg. involved in producing any info. Can anyone please help me with this? I sure would appreciate it.
ismaelg Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Hi Edward, Welcome to the forum! I did a google search and came up with quite a few hits. Are you loking for something specific? Here is an example of the links I found: http://www.autosalon-singen.de/Katalogfahr...p;languageID=GB http://www.autozine.org/strange_car/strange_40.htm http://www.allsportauto.com/english/merced...ace_version.php http://www.supercars.net/Search2?INPUT=clk...searchType=cars And of course: Something that made this car famous (or notorious): Going airborne at LeMans.... I hope this helps. Looking forward to see your work! Thanks,
Ariel Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 wrong one Izzy thats the Flying clk that black box makes the Tamiya one is the older car with the D2/the naked women/ the blue original tiele sponsered cars. http://www.seriouswheels.com/mno/Mercedes-...e-1920x1440.htm http://www.allsportauto.com/detailphoto.ph...amp;zl_idMD=676 If I get somemore i will post them.
sledwood Posted June 16, 2007 Author Posted June 16, 2007 Thank you for the replys. I should have been clearer in my request. The Tamiya version of the Mercedes CLK-GTR is from the 1997 FIA GT Series. The engine detail is quite different from the pictures you posted. Specifically, what I'm looking for is the plumbing and wiring locations. Especially the overflow tanks, air accumulators for the shocks, etc. I have enclosed some pictures of my first try. Before the detail bug bit. Now I have aquired carbon fibre decals and some PE parts so I'm about to go nuts on another kit. All of your help is appreciated. I'm glad I have found this forum (thank you Model Cars Magazine!) and I think I'm really going to enjoy it. Been building by myself for years. Going to be nice to have people to bounce things off of. LOL
