SuperStockAndy Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 To start using photoetch parts? Here are my three best builds in a horrible picture: Guys like Bill Geary are really inspiring me to do clean, detailed, factory stock builds. What are your thoughts on this?
JunkPile Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 You will be ready when you get a very fine pointed set of tweezers. Yes, REALLY!
SuperStockAndy Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 That's what I was thinking Harry..but I'd hate to ruin a $15 photoetch set.
Harry P. Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 That's what I was thinking Harry..but I'd hate to ruin a $15 photoetch set. You won't ruin it. PE is not that hard. I'm sure you already have read posts here on how to do it. If you still have questions, just ask and the guys will tell you all you need to know. PE is a big step forward, like using BMF for the first time. But you can do it.
Dragracer Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Go for it Andy, as Harry says it's not that hard, there is plenty of info around & I'm sure there is PLENTY of help here if you need it. As I told you before, your models are excellent, you will never know unless you try, everything I am doing on my ADRL builds are 1st timers for me, lengthing the fenders, nose, all the scratch-building (chassis, wings, airdams, engine parts),plus doing all the detailing, all I've ever done up to now is just run spark plug wires (see my Dick Harrell long-nose AWB Camaro in your "Show Your Models"), the ADRL cars I'm building will have full detailing, how they will come out, who knows (certinly not me! LOL!), the 2 Nitrous cars that I'm working on right now will have a 4-stage Nitous system, thats a total of at least 7 solenoids (each, 7 fuel,7 nitrous), the rear suspension will be scratch-built, a rear swing-arm for the Nova & a 4-link for the Comet, I'll be using R.B. Motion rear shocks on both, I have gotten bolts, nuts bolt heads & screws for the engine detailing, I have never done anything like this before, can I do it, who knows, but I'm going to give it a 100% effort, I'll do it over a few times if I have to in a effort to get it right. So I just say GO FOR IT, it'll be a learning experiance for the both of us. Enjoy it! (I'm having a kick doing it!)
SuperStockAndy Posted April 5, 2012 Author Posted April 5, 2012 Thanks everyone, I'm gonna try it soon
Austin T Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 If you have a hobby shop that has PE buy a cheap pack and see where you can Apply it,I built a 50' Chevrolet PU and used the MCG PE set and got best youth in Cookeville.
rhs856 Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Take your time and stick the PE on the sticky side of some tape before you cut it. YOU CAN DO IT!
