How do I Paint a Scale Tarp / Car Cover? (Tissue)

Recommended Posts

Hey All

So this afternoon I took a tissue, cut it down to size, lay it over the back of a model and saturated it with water. I conformed it to the shape that I wanted, and now it is dry. BUT! How should I go about painting it? Should I saturate it again and then paint it like watercolor? Or paint it dry?

I am using Tamiya Acrylics

Thanks!

Noah what I would do is coat it with a diluted mix of white glue, and water again. This way it will keeep it's shape. Then you can paint it without worry, and when dry you can dry brush on highlights. I took a heavy duty piece of tissue, and spray painted it Olive Drab camo paint. It got stiff, but will be workable when I need it.
