OK.......gonna build one thread to show some of my completed work and lots of in progress. I have not posted in awhile so, I figured this was the best use of my time. As I get some of the WIP rigs finished/farther along, I will seperate and post individually. So, here goes.

First up: completed Revell W900 snap. Box stock for parts but improvements include; filled interior mount tabs both rear of sleeper and side of cab. Engine locator pins removed for concealment. Engine has official CAT yellow (friend used to work at the CAT house and gave me a gallon of touch up)

Next up: Repair job on a half built WIP; ERTL MACK DM600 with a 3/4in stretch to fit the AMT Autocar dump body. Was started probably 15 to 20 years ago and went to storage. Cats got into the storage and broke the frame and other pcs. Put frame back together and ended up with a bow in it so we put strips to smooth that out. The rest is self explanatory.

Mud daubers too.....hate em!!!

Third in line: AMT Ford Louisville Delivery; almost box stock except I took the tandem rears from the AMT GMC Astro (cuz it went single-next one) and it will be a granite counter top/headstone co. hauler.

Next on next entry.

Continuing along: AMT GMC Astro; Drastically shortened frame. Single axle from the Ford delivery. Pulled out the DD and put in the Cummins from a Freight Shaker Dual Drive. Revell W900 exhaust. It is to pull a set of 27' pups not yet started.

Next: This is the AMT MACK Cruiseliner; Stretched frame. Self steer lift axle. AMT tanker section placed as DROM. Hoping the DROM will not be too high as I placed an extra frame section to place piping around drive lines.

And the final and most currently being worked WIP: AMT KW Alaskan Hauler; My problems here is it is an older release and has what a friend who used to own our last LHS says is a tendency to have brittle parts. (He was quite right) Frame broke. Fixed it. And have now just been hoping other items hold together during the build. Some minor breaks, but going OK. It has the grill integrated into the radiator. Both hood sides have the same notch for both air cleaners to go on. A Mercury sleeper (original was warped beyond repair). And also leaving dual exhaust. Removing ten holes and replacing with 5 spokes. Oh yeah, widening the headlight brackets to fit the dual bezels from the tilt hood.

Enjoy.

i thought i was the only one with a 15 to 20 year wip on the bench.lol. the house has been taking up alot of my time. its one of those houses where you fix somthing and somthing else breaks.but anyway your builds are comming along nicely. whats the cruiseliner going to be with that tank on it?

Hi Berry,

Is that lift axle (tag axle) a third party kit, or home built add-on? If it's a third party add-on, are they still available?

Thanks in advance,

Rich, it's a home built. I was looking on line at various lift axles and came across a company that makes several different versions of self steer lifts. Got to looking at em and all they are is a steer axle with some type of spring/shock/or hydraulic tension arm attached just like steering linkage. I used a spare front axle and took a Peterbilt rear shock and cut the triangle base off then re-positioned it in-line with the frame and connected a steering link to it. The suspension is from a Peterbilt as well. All I did was REALLY shorten the bags to get them noticeably higher to show them in the up position.

Anthony, the Cruiseliner will get a stretched tanker, (a little extra frame for a third axle behind the tank) and then a shortened tandem. A-B unit.
