Lovefordgalaxie Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I built this one in an unusual color combo for a '56 Chevy, but I love the red and black combination!! The kit is a Monogram '56 Chevy, it's old, and don't have much detail, but I gave it a try anyway. The paints on the body are Tamiya Italian red and Tamiya black, both straight out of spray cans. The only detais I added were a wiper motor, a brake master cylinder, a better battery, a antenna and a rear view mirror. The rest is box stock, including the Corvette V8 with the "bat wing" air cleaner. Other than that, I just fixed the headlights, that had that tab on the center, what made they look like eyeballs, and I also dislocated the frame about 1/4" foward. Hope you guys like it.
Dragline Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Good gosh look at the shine in that last pic on the door panel. Great color combo and execution. Bob
rmvw guy Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Nice job! Beautiful paint and great detail. It looks like it just came off the show room floor.
bbowser Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Very nice, you do outstanding work Tulio, glad you joined the forum.
Dr. Cranky Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 That's a beauty, and shiny too. Love the contrast on the interior. Excellent.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 Thanks!!! I love this color combo, but never saw any '56 using it, and I go to lots of car shows. Don't know in the States, but here in Brazil, I never saw one in red and black.
Harry P. Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 That's a real beauty! The red/black color scheme is striking! Very nice!
Draggon Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) Dang, thats shiny. your color choice is great! Edited May 15, 2012 by Draggon
jdcar32 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Really nice to see the older kits being built, and done nicely too. Also nice to see one of the other "Tri Fives" for a change.
W-Machine Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 That color combo looks magnificent, and your paint has such a nice shine to it.
Lovefordgalaxie Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 Thanks!! I thought people would find the color scheme odd.
mickey1938 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Really a Amazing Paint Job, and plenty of Detail as well. mickey1938
AMT Pacemakers Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 There must be ZERO humidity where your at!! Everytime I spray Tamiya straight from the can it looks super shiney for about an hour, then it starts loosing its gloss down to almost satin.... Nice job.. Robert
charlie8575 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Geez, is that black glossy! Wow! I don't think black/red was a factory option in '56, which is too bad, because it does look nice on that car. Great job. Your work is very, very good, and a credit to the forum. Charlie Larkin
