Hey everyone, I see alot of you guys using alot of filler/putty for alot of numerous projects and I am just wondering what products you are using? I picked up a tube of the tamyia stuff, I think that is more designed for finer scratches or something, I am looking for more of a "filler" for bunk expansions frame extensions etc.

thanks

James

Be careful. Any filler that is a "one part" (ready to go out of the tube) cures by having a component(usually a thinner of sorts) evaporate. When any material has a component removed, it shrinks. If you use a one part putty, only use thin layers, as it is less apt to shrink. I use either thick superglue, or, a two part automotive filler. Any filler that is two part, cures by chemical reaction, and should not shrink.

Bondo professional glazing putty at your local auto parts stores. about 8 bucks . Make sure it's got the small vial of catalyst. I also use Magic-Sculpt for large build -up areas, or where I may want to carve a unique shape/detail.

Bondo UV activated Glazing and Spot putty is awesome to work with, full proof no mixing straight from the tube cures in the sun very quick !! Great thing is make up of the product is about 25-30 % styrene so it works really well with kit plastic and resin.Sands really nice and takes primer and paint really well. Heres the link:

I use the spot puttty for cars. If their is large gaps etc i use 2 part auto body filler both have worked well for me the spot putty is easier to work with and less mess on the sanding end

why do you need filler for frame stretching or sleepers? if you take care when joining the pieces you will not need filler and if you do then super glue with a shot of accelerator is the ticket. i stretched just about every one of my kit frames in the past and none of them had filler. i do use the super glue to fill the seam to make it invisible though.

take your time when fitting your sections together and it will save you a lot of extra work in the end. B) B)
