brodie_83 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 I'm trying to figure out which route I want to go with my '67 Vette and '69 Camaro, both in 1/12 scale. I have a few themes I'm looking at.. '67 Corvette: Grand Sport (blue with white stripe and red fender stripes) or Penske (blue with yellow wheels and yellow exhaust). '69 Camaro: Grand Sport (same as above) or Indy 500 pace car (white with orange stripes). Both will be modified with bigger wheels/tires and a lower stance. Now I don't know which way I want to go engine-wise on these. I talked to TDR and they said they could shrink the 454 set from an 1/8 scale to 1/12 scale for a reasonable price and I can choose from 2 materials. I also found an Ertl "Corvette Engine Set" with 3-1/12 scale engines...one being an LS1. Now I was thinking either getting the Corvette engine set and modifying the LS1 to fit in one of the kits and use the 427 from the '67 Vette kit in the other, and the same thing with the TDR 454. I just don't know which car I'd want to have the 427 and which one to have the LS1 or 454? Decisions, decisions...
moparmagiclives Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Camaro, big bad muscle car. 454 Vette, mean, fast modern street car. LS1
brodie_83 Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 I don't really want to buy both cars new engines...that's alot of money. I'd like to use the 427 for something...
brodie_83 Posted May 25, 2012 Author Posted May 25, 2012 I'm thinkin' the LS in the 'Vette and the 427 in the Camaro. That will save me some money too.
Scale-Master Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 The Small Block is by far a better rendered engine than the Big Block. I have swapped the Big Block into the Camaro, but it is a tight fit. Putting the Small Block into the Corvette was much easier.
