Jairus Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 tyking, First off, forum rules require you to post your name. Nobody gets away here with a mask on! Best way to do this is click on "My Controls" and then "Edit Signature". Put your first and last name in the Signature box along with what ever else you want (fav saying, personal web page or whatever) and click "Update my signature". Second, I do not know how old you are or how much experience you have in modeling but from your questions you sound like your just getting started. Best bet is to simply build the models you have as cleanly as you can and spend some time reading old posts on this forum. There are TONS of information here if you'll just take the time to check out some of the old threads. Welcome to MCM Forums!
RJWood Posted July 17, 2007 Posted July 17, 2007 Hello tyking, Welcome to the Model Cars Magazine Forums. Your asking for help, but I need a little more info. The 2 models that people made you get are fairly good models. Are you new to modelling? are these your first kits? what is your age? If you give me a little more to go on I will try to help you. If you are new to modelling you might want to try some of the Revell snap kits to start out with. I have been building for several years, and there are some snap kits that can look very nice with a little extra detailing. as for paint, you can get a set of basic colors from Testors. they come in a box with 8 enamel paints and 1 thinner and a paint brush. I got a box at Michaels crafts with a 50% off coupon. (a good deal.) and you need to get some spray primer. a can of wal-mart brand will cost about 1 dollar. you should use spray paint for most of your build, especially the car body. spray it on in very light mist coats, allowing about 15 minutes between coats until the body is fully colored, allow the paint ample time to completely cure (dry) at least 1 week. I could go on with more but I don't want to overload your circuits. If you are a beginner just take your time with it and look through the forum to pick up on the tips that are on this forums board, and you will be happy with your results. If you have more questions just throw them up here and you will get answers. everyone here are very willing to help. Just give us enough information to help you with your questions. Good luck and keep building. Reguards Ron.
tyking Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 Okay! Will,i'm about 15.I have had a little exp with some snaps. Thanks Ron!One question,I spray the primer first.I will pick up those paints maybe with the 50% off. These models are my like 2nd or 3rd but never finish them,so i'll bring them out too.
