Dr. Cranky Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 Thanks, everyone. Ah shucks, Donn, thank you for all the help. I haven't had this much frustration and fun on a build in a long time. This one broke me in to the madness. Not the last one I will build, that's for sure. I want to do a 53 or 57 Corvette like this in the near future.
Art Laski Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Looks great, Doc! You built that at Teresi speed too!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 Thanks, Art. I love the sound of that. TERESI SPEED. We need to include that one in the Model Builders Dictionary. :D
PARTSMARTY Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 love every bit of it.hope you do some more "shiny" drag cars.i'm still trying to find a place that carries that clear you use.i want to try it,and i lost the name of it.you da man-no doubt.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 Marty, in this case the clear I used is in the paint. I used Model Master paint and buffed it out. That's the clear you see on there.
tooltas Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 do the flip front end vette gasser kit by amt dr. it fits a big block rat very nice..
Dr. Cranky Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 Todd, that's the kit I have in mind for sure, I just have to find it and buy a couple.
socal76 Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 Dr. I read through the entire subject here, and I have to say, not only is it a great model, but I am glad it did not become a wall ornament! Not only because so many have also had the pleasure of seeing the finished project. Plus it has given me some inspiration to go back to some I have been about ready to turn into either wall bombardments, or firecracker fuel! Alos kind of a bit of irony in that I got to see Donn's first video this past weekend. Have heard about it for years, but never been able to see it until this past weekend! I must have had some kind of evil glint in my eye because my friend said I could not even borrow it!!! LOL Maybe he thinks he might not have gotten it back!! Oh well once back to work both DVD's will be ordered! Can't wait to see your next project! Oh and by the way, one of my stalled projects was using the same T-Bird but dropping in a street SOHC 427 from the Tarantula and intake from the Monogram Cobra, and the automatic from the Revell T-Bolt, just to keep the comfy cruiser of the original.
Mooneyzs Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Virgil.... you did an outstanding job on this one. This turned out great. Love your builds!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 Thanks, Dave and Chris. I appreciate the kind words. Best, DC
Dyno Davo Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Very kool build Virgil, love the whole concept, for some reason T Birds seem to make great drag cars and you nailed this one. PS: Paint is awesome too
3men2s Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 Doctor. Love the t bird, It came out Beastifull
Dr. Cranky Posted September 27, 2012 Author Posted September 27, 2012 Thanks, Danny. I am glad you like it.
Burnout Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Very nice work Cranky! Seems you moved a little bit out of your normal comfort zone with this one? I like it.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 30, 2012 Author Posted September 30, 2012 Thanks, Ken. You betcha. This one really almost didn't make it. I have to say that building models like this can really be addictive, but extremely bad for my nerves! LOL.
