Shardik Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 (edited) I want to recreate the truck my Grandfather drove when he had his automotive repair shop: a grey 1937 Chevy pickup. Has anyone ever kitted this truck? I've been scanning various forums, but have yet to run across one. Barring that, I thought it might be possible to convert a sedan. Any suggestions in this regard would also be appreciated. Edited September 7, 2012 by Shardik
jeffs396 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Time to rework a diecast for your replica Johann!
Longbox55 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 There's no stock kit, but I have seen the Orange Blossom Special 2 pulling truck cab, reworked to stock roof hight, combined with the AMT '37 Chevy car to make a stock truck. The OBS2 kit pops up regularly on ebay, and the '37 Coupe/Convertible is fairly easy to find as it's been reissued many times.
jeffs396 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Here's a Danbury '37 Chevy pickup in 1/24: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DANBURY-MINT-1937-CHEVROLET-PICKUP-MIB-STUNNING-DIECAST-VEHICLE-FREE-S-H-/370639058193?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item564bcf3511 You can probably find one that is damaged or missing parts also for a resto, lots-o-money saved that way, you just have to be patient and watch 'em on eBay...
Shardik Posted September 8, 2012 Author Posted September 8, 2012 Thanks, Bill and Jeff. Two workable options. I had never even thought of going with a die cast; e-bay here I come.
