vwrabbit Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 (edited) Wanted to try to do a quick custom so chose this kit to play with. Started with the skirts flipped and moved back and then made the big back bumper. Looked big enough to ask for a Continental spare, so I through one together using some scrap plastic. Here's what I have so far. I will probably add a little detail or even a frenched license plate to the spare. Having fun with this one. Tim Edited September 11, 2012 by vwrabbit
Albie D Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Cool idea! Love the wheels. This is a fun kit, Im looking forward to the build.
vwrabbit Posted September 11, 2012 Author Posted September 11, 2012 Added a frenched license plate to the spare. I think this is from the AMT 1950 Ford. Tim
Blackout Racing Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Looking good, never seen a spare ride like that, KOOL.
vwrabbit Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 Fixed the angle so it wasn't leaning back so far. Now follows the rear angle. Tim
bryan_m Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 yea, that looks better, it was leanin too much. nice scratchbuildin work, cant wait to see more.......have you decided on what color this will be? cheers bryan
vwrabbit Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 Thanks! Unsure on color. But when you asked, gold popped into my head. Maybe with a little flake? :-) Tim
bryan_m Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 oooh yea..........GOLD! and then get a can of "clear effects" from advance auto parts. its clear coat loaded with tiny metallic flakes! it looks very cool once shot on a basecoat, i would advise shooting regular clear over it, because if you sand and buff it, you will mottle the flakes in the clear, and it will look blurry......... cheers bryan
vwrabbit Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 Bryan, thanks for the tip! I'll try running to the auto parts store today and look for that. Would love to get this painted ASAP. Tim
