m408 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Just went through my weekly trip to Michaels and found a few items that might be of interest. 1- Krylon has a silver leafing pen that is almost a 100% match for sprue chrome. Goes on easy and the excess wipes off well. Seems to be an easy alternative to BMF touch ups. 2- Wandered through the doll house section and found various P/E gold plated screens of various patterns. I guess they are used for facade decorating or what not, but might be great for custom grills etc. 3- Also in the doll house section I found fabrics used for furniture upholstery. Anyone tried this stuff?
bobss396 Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I wander through Michaels once in a while (do NOT get on a cash register line behind some old bat that is buying a loose bunch of fake flowers!). I'll look for the Krylon pens. They also have some gold leaf and silver leaf that might be worth a try. I always pick up their Plastikote lacquer primers in the big can, great stuff and on;y around $2.25 with the 40% coupon. Look in the "jewelry" section for those liitle gems that can be used for tail lights. A great place to wander around on a rainy day for sure. Bob
Modelbuilder1313 Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 I love my local Michaels!!! Everytime i go there I pick up some Plastikote Grey and white Primer. I also get the different colors of felt they have. works for floors and headliners.
