sak Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Need to know if anybody could recommend a good two part epoxy. One that comes with seperate tubes. I have a hard time getting equal amounts from the syringe type. Jeff
Chief Joseph Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I like the J-B Weld and J-B Kwik epoxies that you can get at just about anywhere. They just plain work and are relatively inexpensive.
Harry P. Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I don't undersand... with the twin-tube syringe types it's impossible not to get equal amounts of A and B! That's the beauty of that type of dispenser. But if you insist on the separate tube type, just about any brand of epoxy works as well as any other.
sak Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 The problem is I squeeze the syringe and sometimes one side is clogged and the other isn't . And a huge blob squirts out on one side and nothing on the other. So I keep squeezing until the other side opens and now I have a huge blob of one and a small blob of the other. I found that I have to pull back on the syringe when I have what I need , otherwise it will keep squirting out. One side might suck in more air than the other making it worse. More wastefull perhaps is the right word.
my80malibu Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 there are a few others out at the Hobby and hardware stores. I use this brand www.bsi-inc.com which is code for Bob Smith Industries
CadillacPat Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) Are you looking for an Epoxy for it's binding properties or for one that is sandable? I use Apoxie Sculpt, Milliput White, JB Quik, JB Weld, or QuikSteel for body mods. For adhesion on very small jobs I use the syringe Epoxies, 5 minute, or 60 minute. Syringe Twin Tube Epoxies are real easy to use if you gently twist the syringe plungers to release small amounts. I use a Jewelers Saw to cut the syringes into two separate tubes. This makes them easier to use. CadillacPat Edited September 13, 2012 by CadillacPat
Guest G Holding Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I gave up on the syringes and cutting years ago. I buy my LHS house brand....Yep,Bob Smith Industries. I bought the bottles that hold "4 1/2 oz for both" and the clear bottles and caps make mixing quick and easy.
greymack Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Hi sak , I have a solution for you with the twin syringe epoxy just cut the syringes apart .So then you may squeeze each syringes one at a time . I do this and works awesome.
