What did you get today? (Model Car Related Items)

Local toy show day. Got a couple goodies. Some kind of Ferrari diecast I hadn't seen before for just $12. ETA: It's a Maisto F430, looks like a 2005 to 2007 model. Diecast Cobra I hadn't seen before. A little beat up, needs some paint touchup. Seems to be a 427, not a 289, but also seems to be smaller than other 1/24 427 Cobras, more the size of the AMT 260, but not as small as 1/32. A true 1/25 427? Oh well, only $5, I can easily have that much fun with it. If it turns out to be a turd, hey, the grandkids always need new cars to play with when they come over. ETA: Just sneaked it into the house for a quick look. It's by Revell, and it does seem to be 1/24. Still pretty cool, as I didn't have one.

AMT Silhouette custom "project" in a baggie. Either glue-bombed and disassembled, or started and never finished, I'm not sure. MIGHT be a complete kit in there, but who knows till I can inventory it. Vendor wanted $12 for it, I offered $5 for it as a parts bag, he accepted.

Box of AMT '63 Nova project. Supposed to be everything for at least one model in the box, and there's TWO complete, fairly clean convertible bodies. Not a fan of convertibles but I've got a bare '63 HT body that needs everything else to complete it. One of the ragtop bodies can be bashed with a Rat Packer to un-alter the wheelbase, the other might make good swap fodder. Vendor asked $40 for the mess and I didn't even argue with him--the lot would have gone for more than that on eBay and then there's shipping. Looking forward to digging into this one.

And the crown gem of the day, the MPC Toyota 2000 GT kit in a bag, started a little but many/most parts still on the sprues, body never painted. All the important body parts including the windshield seem to be there. Vendor swears he checked it against the instructions and it's complete. Price was a whopping--get ready for it---$12! Couldn't beat that deal with a stick.

Good hits. The Toyota tires burn, so watch that. Great kit, actually has some spy stuff from you only live twice in it.

Thanks for the headsup on the tires. I checked them. They're installed on the wheels, and there doesn't seem to be any burn.

No spy goodies in this one, but it does have a usable girl figure.

The tires are unlike anything I've ever seen from MPC. Come to think of it, so's the rest of the construction. Was this originally an Airfix kit?

MPC tooled the Toyota kit for Airfix (that one, and a number of others including the 1/25 scale Aston Martin).  The two companies shared a bunch of kits in the late Sixties.

The girl figure in the Toyota was the same one included in the Airfix issue (not sold here) which was a 007 issue.  MPC left out the Bond figure.  Only a couple of convertible Toyotas were built, specifically for that movie.  I heard that Airfix offered that kit as a coupe also...MPC never did...why they didn't is a mystery as that was the more "normal" version...

Coupes are hard to find. Great box art on the Airfix pair.
I’ve got a gluebomb donating it’s engine etc. to a Nichimo coupe.
The stuff behind the seats in the roadster is the radio/tv console from movie. Almost invisible. Car had no top irl.
Airfix/Heller tires bad stuff. Glad it’s ok.
Awful box art on MPC. Odd bubble top too.

I got one of the Model A Coupes I ordered, today. Found it on Ebay for an excellent price and free (very fast!) shipping! I also received a 12 pack of Tropical Shine 4-way polishing boards ($15, shipped!) and a package of five of their blue 220/320 boards. I have come to prefer their boards, because, as they're for salon use, they are quite durable, and are washable, so can be used wet. Oh, yeah! Issue #210 also arrived, today!

Magazine day !

I'm ahead of you for a change! Got all three gunzines last week and have already read them. Particularly enjoyed Dr. Dabbs' piece on building a fake mini-M21, and the Guns & Bullets writeup on the new Springfield Armory SA-35. B)

The Airfix Aston Martin DB5 was my very first model i ever built when i was 7 or 8 years old.
I still have it but it looks really bad.
Maybe i shuld get another to build and put next to it just as a scale of how much better i have become since then?
