Dragonhawk1066 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Can't remember if I posted these earlier. Picked these up in a trip to Michael's and Hobby Lobby. I got the AMT '64 Chevelle Malibu SS from Michael's, and the AMT 1960 Ford F-100 Pickup with trailer and AMT 1970 Dodge Challenger from Hobby Lobby. Plans for the '64 Chevelle include sourcing a small block Chevy from a kit in my stash, aftermarket wheels and tires, and removing the molded in exhaust to replace it with a scratch-built exhaust. The F-100 Pickup and trailer will be weathered and those plans also include the AMT 1971 Mustang Mach 1 007 kit as a "barn find project" to be on the trailer. 10
kelson Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Arrivals over the last couple days.🤠the ford truck is not easy to find for a decent price. I have a Porsche 918 kit in mind for these wheels. See what the aftermarket has for the Blazer. 7

WillyBilly Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) Wife said I need to stop collecting and start building. I said after I get the Stranger Things Blazer, I will stop for a while. So, I made a big purchase of Models I have wanted, making the Blazer last. Also got some decals. Most of it showed up today. Wife told me I had some explaining to do. I have wanted this body style blazer model kit since the mid 80s. After 40 years of waiting Revell rocks it. The detail is great. Edited February 15 by WillyBilly 6 1
RSchnell Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Stopped by Ollie's on my way to the grocery store. Snagged a couple of the Drag Combo. 7

Old Buckaroo Posted February 15 Posted February 15 (edited) Got one of my most wanted in the mail today after a helpful forum member pointed me in the direction of it. Its in great shape assembly wise. Gust enough glue that parts have fallen off rather than fused forever. It is missing one radius rod for the front. If I cant source one I will scratch build a replacement. It will be cleaned up, rebuilt and hopefully I can find a set of decals also. On another note - I have figured out where all those resin wrinkle wall slicks Ive bought over the year originated from.. (Monogram) Edited February 15 by Old Buckaroo 5
junkyardjeff Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Picked this up today, was going to take two rough originals to make one good one but was cheaper and easier to buy this kit. 8

Keef Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Stopped in one of my local Michael’s yesterday to see what they had. Figured I’d pick up another package of flocking from f nothing else. Had the packages marked on clearance for $5. Imagine my surprise when they rang up at $3 each. 3
Daddyfink Posted February 17 Posted February 17 My LHS finally got some. It seems that some stuff is running late to the west coast, or at least my LHS! LOL! 6
RSchnell Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Anytime I see an old Hubley kit cheap I grab it. The Fordson tractors are for my Ford tractor collection & the diecast '32 Ford replaces the one my Dad gave me years ago & got lost to time. 5

Unfortunately the boxes all got trashed but not the models. You can't put a price on memories.. 1
A modeler named mike Posted February 19 Posted February 19 This one arrived today from ebay. The box needs some TLC which I was aware of before bidding. I haven't inventoried it yet but I can see already one of the tail lights is missing as I did a fast rummage to separate the glass and tires. I can't complain since it was $21.18 total including S&H and tax. 5

You can't put a price on memories.. Same here! Between my dad & grandfather there were always a couple Hubley kits laying around waiting to be built. I figure I'll stash enough kits sufficient for my needs as I have a feeling we will never see any of the Hubley/Gabriel/JLE kits issued again. The JLE issues showed signs of worn molds with all the flash they had. 3
Old Buckaroo Posted February 19 Posted February 19 A big disappointment - been looking for the Charles Carpenter '55 kit for some time , found one still sealed and the shipper wrapped the kit in paper. It didnt travel well. 5

It didnt travel well. That really stinks Sean. Luckly I've only a few kits shipped in a bag or wrapped in brown paper. Two arrived damaged but thankfully they were not vintage kits. Still peed me off a bit. I do like that Carpenter kit, I had one but gave it to a buddy.
espo Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I have seen so many others here that are receiving older and, in some cases, even new models that are shipped in such a hap hazard manor that it is all too common to have them arrive with substantial damage. Maybe establish with whoever you're getting these kits from just what your expectations are for their condition when you receive them. As part of your purchase or traded kit how the boxing and shipping is to be done so that the kits arrive in a usable condition.
