Went to Model Empire's annual sale today:

All that 'n' a bag of parts. The '61 Dodge is an X-El reissue; the '61 Fury only needs stock wheelcovers and taillights. The second red 'vert is a '62 Bonneville that appears to have been channeled or sectioned or something; frankly I wanted it for the console and buckets to put in my '62 Catalina. I might swap in the 'Cat's tufted interior and take a whack at restoring this old custom. Best part is I got all of them very cheap - the Fury was highest at $17 (!!) - but prices were kind of all over the map today (a scruffy built Aurora '42 Packard Meat Wagon ambulance was $89, while a nicer built Mod Squad Woody was priced at $7). Oddest parts find: the grille from an ITC '51 Ford Victoria - wish the dash and hubcaps were there; the only other decent parts in that thing. Also grabbed about four Styline '57 Chevy front ends, so when the reissue of the kit comes out, let me know if you need one!

Was the place a "zoo" today, and how long did you have to wait in line to get in the store? Thanks.

Not too bad; Tom and I were down at the corner when we got there at about 11:35 AM, and at noon we went straight in. It was all pretty orderly and I didn't get stuck next to anyone who hadn't showered in a year. There must've been about 30 people ahead of us; I can't believe nobody snagged the Dodge and Plymouth first. Upon inspection, the Plymouth does have some sanding damage to the trunk lid trim so I'll have to redo part of it; delicate work but I can manage. I'll scratchbuild the missing taillight pods and add some spare '62 lights to them.

Got this Falcon at a yard sale a few weeks ago for $1.  The main reason is that my late sister had a white one.  Used to listen to the Eagles on the 8track.  The second reason is that I can't remember the last time I found any kits at a yard sale or thrift market so I jumped at the chance.  I think the builders must get buried with their kits around here.  She's a little warped and the chassis is snapped in two.  I might fix it up.

That's going to take some "creative" fixing up.

Maybe you could do a Rat Fink style rod. :P

Sometimes the cartoon versions have that wicked body contortion.

Anyone who has been can relate to this statement.

I got there late this year, so no parts bag goodies for me, but I did find a few things there...:

In today's mail, I got Lindberg's '32 Ford Hot Rod. Kit #72165. 1/25 scale. A very old and primitive repop of a blast from the past. I'm guessing this kit originally came out the late 50's, early 60's. It still has some of the parts in it for an earlier motorized version. This kit is no where up to the quality or details of the Revell '32s. Heck it's not up to the standards of early AMT '32 Fords. But, I love '32 Fords. And there is something about the looks of builds on the box art I like. Well enough to order a copy. Ive also seen a buildup on line, that shows that this kit can look pretty good when painted and built right, straight out of the box.

Opening up the box, it is exactly what I expected. It's going to be nice, simple, and fun to build. Again, a little on the primitive side. But, that's part of it's charm.

In today's mail, I got another '32 Ford kit. This time Revell/Monogram's 1/24th scale '32 Ford Street Rod, with McDonald's Diorama. Kit #7804. This kit is quite a bit more sophisticated than the Lindberg '32 I got yesterday. Yet still not as sophisticated as Revell's newer '32s. It can only be built as a full fendered car. Which is okay with me. As I have several other '32 high boys in my collection already. It looks like another very nice kit. And shoulder be a lot of fun to build.

This should turn out to be a pretty rare kit I got at a normal price. Just sent payment. Guy in Japan went directly to MFH to pick this up and supposedly it is not, and will not be available to any distributors online or otherwise. The 1/12 version is still available, but I didn't want to spend that kind of money, and I have nowhere to put it.

All this from a local I found on the facebook marketplace for 10 bucks. The 442 is only missing decals. Its started but wont take much at all to strip down to bare plastic. The cobra "was" sealed with a price tag from riders which was a treat in itself. To my knowledge all the riders in michigan are r.i.p. 20171109_215205.thumb.jpg.8a22787a1d6f9e

While moving around boxes left from my move in my garage (want to be able to get at least one car in before winter), I found an unopened, unmarked box from Model Roundup...surprised, I opened it--had a Revell of Germany Mercedes AMG GT and two Moebius '69 Ford pickups.   It must have been an order that came to AZ in late May and I tossed it in the last shipping pod without opening it...totally forgot that I'd ordered them...
