tjones87 Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I am wanting to put the wheels/tires from the Camaro Concept kit under the Nova. The back tires hit the inner fender area, any suggestions on how to get everything to fit? Anyone who has done a pro touring type build with this kit let me know...thanks
trogdor Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Why not widen the rear fenders, or tub out the chassis ?
tjones87 Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 I would like to keep the body and chassis as stock as possible.
diymirage Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 sounds like your only option is jacking up the rear end but i would try a mini tub myself
BKcustoms Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Unless you want to lift it way up in the air Minitubbing it is the way to go. It's actually pretty simpe to do and not very noticable once the wheels are on if you're worried about stock appearance. When I built this one I left the outside of the stock tub (the part that meets up with the inside of the body) in place and removed inside of the tub and the floor all the way to the outside edge of the frame rail. Then just cut a strip of styrene that is as wide as the new tub will be and glue it to the piece of the stock tub that's left to form the main part of the tub and cap off the inside of the tub with more styrene. I hope this helps, let me know if something doesn't make sense. Billy
Custom Mike Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I did a simple mini-tub on a '69 Talledega a while back, I just cut the rear wheel well down the middle, then cut it lose and moved it in to the edge of the frame rail. Onceit was glued down in it's new location, I filled in the gap, cleaned it up a bit and painted it. There should be enough room between the inside edge of the wheel well and frame to make for a few extra scale inches without major modification. I used Aoshima rims, and they fit fine with this minor modification!
Guest G Holding Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 If you dont want to tub, the split the fenders and widen them. I have seen a couple of 69 Camaros with this done! here is a great tut! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55926
tjones87 Posted December 16, 2012 Author Posted December 16, 2012 thanks everyone on for the pics and suggestions...I think i will try and mini tub the chassis...I am going for the stock look outside but with ls2 engine and bigger wheels...don't want any drastic changes or mods...I will see what I can do and thanks again
