Ron35369 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Here is an original screw bottom 60 Impala Ragtop that I got on Ebay that needed a rebuild. It had never been painted which was a plus & it had very little in the way of glue marks on the body. Even the windshield was nice & clear. Here are some photos of what I've done so far: nice box in great condition: Here I've got it in color...HOK Sherwood Pearl with a pearl white stripe in the side trim, finished with HOK clear: Here I've finished the Bare Metal Foil & I've grafted the center section of a 59 Impala rear continental kit bumper onto the 60 rear bumper. I also picked out my choice of tires & wheels, donated from a 62 Catalina kit.:
Edsel-Dan Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Nice. I have a resin copy of this to get to some day. But, did Chevy put Red lenses on a car that was Backup light delete?? Or is that a Custom touch from the builder?? Backup lights were not standard/Manditory yet on a 1960 car. They were an extra cost option from earlier, but still not manditory.
Ron35369 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 Dan, actually the back up lamps were standard on the Impalas starting in 1958. I like the look of triple tail lights so I made the center lens red as well.
Grant Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Very inspirational build. Nice job, great looking project!
