first build of getting back into it and first build on here. I just started brain storming and decieded to cut the rear fenders and the frame after the rear cross member/axle support. I cut the front fender hole and plan to make a spot for a tool box instead of spare tire.. I dont really like the hand crank on boom so want to make gear driven assembly but not sure how it would be driven?? open to comments or other ideas. THANKS

Derek, most wrecker cranes that were in use during that time were "Hand Cranked " . I 'm aware of the simplicity of the old 1963 era AMT crane . A place to look would be both Holmes wrecker cranes and Weaver cranes . The Weaver was a hand cranked model and actually lasted well into the middle 1950's

can you tell me what kit the bodies from. looking to build the odd rod and cant find a 34 ford kit. thanks

Eshaver: thanks for the crane names, found great reference pictures and info.

raynm: its the 34 3in1 kit, can build tow-street rod-or stake truck. got it off ebay. there were couple to choose from.... got the newer version not origanal.
