What glues to use?

I see alot of people using super glue. Is it testors brand super glue? Super glue drys to quick doesn't it? Is the clear gue(for windows) strong?

Yes Ali, a lot of us use super glue but you can use just about any brand. You can get "non-fogging" super glue, or CA glue, at any well-stocked hobby shop. Some of us use Elmer's glue for windows and yes, it is surprisingly strong once it is fully dried, plus, it dries clear. Use a toothpick to apply it around the edge of the clear windows on the inside of the body of the model. You could also use either clear enamel paint to glue in the glass or clear epoxy.

I mainly use Gap filling slow setting super glue from Bob Smith industries. WWW.bsi-inc.com More commonly known as Insta-Cure.I also use Tenax 7R, Plastruct plastic-weld, Elmers white glue, and 5 minute epoxy. it just depends on what sub assembly I am working on

I use Insta-Cure Gap filling super glue - purple label - 5-15 second set time. I also usually use an accelerator to set instantly. I didn't know it was called Bob Smith Industries before post #3. I have Maxi-Cure and Insta-Super thin too, but use the purple one by far the most (the thin is okay but is really easy to flood parts and leae a mess - and glue your fingers together).

I use "super glue" for almost everything - from engine block halves to shocks to seats - it is strong, dries fast, and, very important, it fills seems and gaps. I not only use it to put parts together but also for filling sink holes, ejector pin marks, etc - small dab, hit it with the accelerator, and your ready to sand in seconds.

I DO NOT USE it on "glass". For that, I use Testors clear canopy glue stuff.

Testors orange for me! Elmers for flocking and windows or testors clear"windowmaker"

i mostly use loctite super glue gel control...for welding plastic i use tenax and for glass i use aleene's tacky glue that u can get at hobby lobby...

I mostly use Bob Smith Insta-cure+ and 5-minute epoxy. CA glue can be used on clear styrene without crazing it if you only use a small amount and blow the vapors away while it cures- I've built several models using only CA glue, but now I tend to use the 5-minute epoxy on the clear parts just to be safe.
