bobss396 Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 I picked up a resin chopped '30 Ford coupe body and am looking for a chassis for it. I have what I think is an old Revell 1929 Ford chassis molded in orange. It looks like a possibility but has only the stock suspension under it. How would the Revell '32 Ford chassis work with it? That looks more modern and they are available. I expect to be doing a Z number on both ends. Thanks, Bob
Phil Patterson Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Only thing that may be a problem is if that resin body is based on the old Monogram 1/24th Model A kits and the 1/25th frame from the Revell 32 may end up looking a bit small under it. The Monogram 30 Ford touring street rod was reissued not that long ago, should be readily available, but the parts are pretty dated. A nice 32 Ford frame in 1/24th may be hard to find unless there's an aftermarket piece out there. Of course, a lot of things can be concealed if you plan to channel the body down over the frame.
bobss396 Posted September 24, 2007 Author Posted September 24, 2007 Thanks for the reply Phil. I'm not worried about scale with this one, the coupe body is pretty compact. I was going to channel the body over the frame anyway. I think I have the same chassis as the rat rod pick up and '29 sedan on hand, trying to find instructions for it. I have the complete unbuilt kit less some of the body parts. The Revell '32 Ford is an option, going to pick one up this week. Bob
VW Dave Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Bob - If the resin body is based on the old Monogram A, the Revell '32 frame will look fine under it....especially if you channel the body over it. My in-progress Monogram A is settling down over an AMT 'Phantom Vickie' '32 frame when I finally get to that point. No Z action here, but about 6" of channel in scale:

I might even have a '32 kit in my stash somewhere. I'm going to be doing a combination channel and "z" job on the frame. Too deep of either causes all sorts of grief fitting the engine and conjuring up an interior for it. I might be going with the '29 Ford frame with a hot rodded 4 banger if I can find the instructions for the kit. Too soon to make a definite decision, but I appreciate the help. Bob
