lonewolf Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 When I discovered the on-line modelling community, it was on "the other magazines" site. When I finally found MCM's site, it quickly became my favorite. What brings me here are a few reasons. First, the level of talent. Secondly, the fact that these talented builders will share any information they have willingly with less talented builders such as myself. Third, everyone is respectful of others which makes it so pleasant to spend time here. Lastly, I can read everything written by the members rather than trying to decipher computer lingo or complete gibberish. Just my two cents worth. What's yours?
CaseyG83 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Third, everyone is respectful of others which makes it so pleasant to spend time here. That would be why I am here. I wanted to be able to post with out somebody tearing me a new one for not spelling something right or or asking a question that someone else asked almost a year ago. I could never bring my self to post over there...... Casey
Billy Kingsley Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) I post here because I can Seriously, I post here because I enjoy message boards...I post on three Model boards regularly, this one, Hobby Heaven (Now Spotlight Hobbies) and Randy's NASCAR modeling board. I used to post on BAD when it exsited...that was a fun board. I also post on a handfull of other message boards, including Hemmings, Roush-Fenway Racing, 2 for NASCAR Diecast and several others. I own/operate a handfull of boards myself including the TNMCC message board, too. I don't post on the other magazines' board because I can't...I type in my username and password and it keeps bringing up the log in page...So I stopped trying after a month of repeated trys. Now...the real question is why we CONTINUE to post here... For me that's two reasons: All they guys I've known for more then half a decade now on the HH board mostly made the move over here...So of cource I am here too. (I did join as soon as I knew it existed!) and the other is, I gotta keep pestering Gregg and Jairus to include NASCAR models in the magazine...Somebody's gotta do it Edited September 24, 2007 by Billy Kingsley
Ken Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I check this one and the other two major ones regularly. I don't really post on the other magazine board anymore. I still occasionally post on spotlight. I read and post here most often. Nice laid back style. I like the magazine and try to support Jarius and Greg as much as possible. I have gotten a subscription, cause I also like to support the one LHS left in the area. I come here cause alot of the guys from other boards migrated here and only post here now. I check spotlight cause some of those guys don't post over here. I never really got annoyed with the bickering on other boards. I just never opened those threads, didn't need the hassle. I stay here cause of the info and all the other stuff gained here. Izzy and his vettes, Mark and his lotus, Marc and his crappy metal axle kits just kidding on that last one. Mostly, because I see what other do and think I can do that too. I get the encouragement and knowledge I need to actually complete stuff here. My merc is almost done... BMF is giving me fits!!!!! I may just let it goes as is and finish the darn thing. Anyway, info and support is what keeps me here
Harry P. Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I was abducted by aliens. When I awoke, I found myself here. Don't know why...
dub Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Everybody pretty much summed it up already: nice people, laid back, high skill level, and no bickering!
bobss396 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I like it here too, nice to HAVE to sign in so everyone knows who is who. One other board I frequented had too many trolls and split personalities to deal with. I'm on some other model car Yahoo boards but hardly stop in. Bob
Ariel Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I'm here because of the chicks no no I mean the cars No seriously I really like this forum I think its the best one around.
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I come here for the chicks!!! !!! Seriously, I'm here so people like Ken can abuse me because of my metal axle fetish. Perhaps I suffer from an iron deficiency. I'm not sure.
drnitrus Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 The main reason I come here, I think, is to support the hobby and other fellow modelers. I learn a lot form all the builders everywhere. Although I post more on some forums then others I still try to stop in here and there to check stuff out. I curently hang out on about 4 boards.
mikemodeler Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I like to visit here and occassionally post replies to topics that are of interest. The different "view' that is present here is refreshing. I also like the sharing of tips, builds and news that relates to the hobby. My main reason for visiting any of the forums is to learn more about model car building and to see what others are doing. MIke scheve
parki Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I didn't know the model cars magazine existed, but the second i found out i just had to subscribe! wow more than one model car magazine! I thought the other one was the only one left. as for joining the forum same reason as most of you other guys, got fed up with all the pointless bickering ex cetera over there. your all so friendly over hear. an just a nice place to hang out. I will eventually get back on with some of my projects, and get some pictures posted.
MicroNitro Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) I watch this forum most every day and post when i have some thing to say. This is a easy forum to navigate. The people are interested in building the best models they can but still have good things to say to us not as gifted. Now I have to get back to another model forum were there has been a 3 month debate over how many leafs in the right rear spring there were in the stones woods and cooks Willys on oct. 13 1963 at 4:06 in the afternoon. Edited September 24, 2007 by MicroNitro
cruz Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I really like it here, not a lot of BELITTLING of other people's work or affiliations. What I like most is the sharing of ideas specially when in between projects and stuff. I think there is a lot of talent also, thank you Gregg and Jairus
Nick F40 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) wait, this is a forum? i followed my uhh, the guy that takes care of me and builds some models you seen on here..........dang...........oh ya my dad! Edited September 24, 2007 by Nick F40
Albert Moore Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 What brings you to this forum? Internet Explorer.... I'm a model truck enthusiast (as in heavy commercial), so it is nice to have a forum devoted to mainly big trucks and not pimped out Escalades and Hummers and other non-commercial vehicles. Nothing wrong with that of course as there are different strokes for different folks, but I like not having to surf through those types of subjects to find the threads I'm interested in. I enjoying seeing what others like to build and their completed builds so I also enjoy the 'Under Glass' Forum as well. I hope to post some of my work in the future (I've posted it elsewhere but I'd to post some new stuff here). Cheers, Albert
Andy Wyatt Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I like the format of this board and the fact that it is moderated. The other board which shall remain nameless ( but it's initials are Hobby Spotlight Heaven whatever...) has WAY too much OT stuff and with the format I have to scroll through 500 posts to get to one that pertains to modeling. Here I can go to an individual thread and not wade through the spam, the grom, the "I need a prayer for my dying cat" or the "I need legal advice about an accident I was in" and all the bickering.
Jairus Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 The Chicks man, it's all about the Chicks!
BIGTRUCK Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Its the only bookmark I have since the ''Big computer crash of 2007'' so I'm stuck here seriously, this board and the Traditional Rod and Kustom board , are enough for me.....
Rob Hall Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 (edited) I like the magazine, I like models and modeling, I like how this board seems to attract all sorts of modelers and subjects, good resin coverage, good new kit coverage. Also, since the board is not tied to a kit vendor, no having to censor yourself when talking about places to source kits from. And no 'grom'! Edited September 25, 2007 by Rob Hall
lonewolf Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 It looks like I posted this topic in the wrong section. It's turned out to be quite a rave. Kudos to Gregg & Jairus For running a tight ship , but still keeping it as comfortable as kicking back at a good friend"s home and shooting the bull.
41CHEVY Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Good people, Great builders, no back stabbing, no nasty replies that the question you asked was answered 5 years ago!!!! NOT BEING INFORMED THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH POSTS TO VOICE AN OPINION!!! Oh yeah......Gregg and jarus too!! Paul
Rick Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 I am a lurker, oops I mean member of several forums , but really only post here. I love all the great pictures, wip's, and ideas here the most, but if I post a question, I get Real answers, and not ones suggesting hammers or fireworks as the only solutions!! Thanks- Rick
