I've noticed that the box art for the Revell '71 Hemi Cuda (#2087) has changed to the 'Revell Muscle' style and shows a red-orange model w/ a black vinyl top (photo of a model, not 1:1). I don't recall the Monogram '71 Cuda having a vinyl top in previous versions...

Anyone have one and can confirm that the tooling has changed, or is Revell now following AMT's lead of misleading box art?

I'm just hoping it isn't built on the Challenger's wheelbase. I never had any of that issue but heard plenty about it from people that weren't too pleased.

Also, semi off-topic, but I wonder when the AMT 70 Cuda , rumored to be an update on the old 74 MPC snapper kit that has been around forever, is going to hit the shelves.

Phil,

I believe you are confusing the '71 Cuda with the soon to be rereleased '70 Cuda AAR with the retooled body. The AMT '70 Cuda was cancelled when RC2 announced that the plastic/diecast divisions were for sale. Who knows what will happen if/when they get new ownership.

I haven't seen the new reissue of the '71 Cuda that Rob mentioned with the vinyl top on the boxart.

Phil, I don't know how you missed it, but all the AMT "Foose" kits were canceled earlier this year shortly after the AMT line was put up for sale. That includes the 70 Cuda. A "Foose" Camaro, and Mustang were also canceled along with the '07 Challenger.

Now I have seen a post elsewhere claiming that Revell's revised 70 AAR Cuda is out but I've yet to see that confirmed by anyone. Sorry, no other info on the 71 kit.

I've seen the '70 AAR as being available on a couple of vendor sites (my usual new kit source, Evers Toy Store (www.everstoystore.com has it listed as in stock.). I'll probably get one later this week. (I remember being dissapointed by the original AAR issue years ago).

I was talking about the '71 Hemi Cuda.. it's now out as a 2n1, basically the stock version and street machine versions in one box. The box art clearly shows a black vinyl top. I already have a few '71s in my stash, but I'd pick up another if it now has a vinyl top...

Apparently my info was very out of date! Thanks for the update! I remember the Foose kits being cancelled, but didn't think it would affect the reissue of the aforementioned AAR.

I'll be keeping an eye out for the 71 now as well, thanks again!

I had added a topic last night announcing that the new Revell 1970 Plymouth AAR 'Cuda is now available, kit #R2875. Prior, I had posted the information on the "other" forum, and was practically called a "lier" by some. So, with that, I decided to delete the topic here (not knowing what kind of "friendly response" I would receive here). I ordered the kit from the aformentioned "Evers Toy Store" 9/25/07, and received a UPS shipping comformation yesterday. The package should be at my door today or no latter than tomorrow, 9/28. Why "Evers" got the kits (or displayed them prior to others) is beyond me? I deal with Dennis @ "Model Express", Jack @ "Model Round-Up, Len @ "Fantastic Plastics", and all show the kit to be a October or late Sept. release, but not in stock as I write this. Due to the rules and regulations on the "other forum" (concering free advertising), I was not able to list the website of "Evers", but invited e-mails for the website address. This will be my last post here as I have asked Gregg to remove my membership here for other reasons. Steve G, we had met in Tallmadge, Ohio..I can assure you the kit is available. I just wish I could post a review on it for you when it arrives. Fury3

Fury3,

Your are certainly welcome to be in this forum. I will try to contact you off the board to explain my comments and I would be happy to assist you with posting a review on that kit.

I ordered one from Evers also.. they are my favorite online kit vendor, they have the easiest to use website and they always have new releases in stock faster than others... I've used Model Express also...Fantastic Plastics and Model Roundup seem to have a good selection, but they don't have an easy to use shopping cart system on their websites (too much typing required).
