buxxx69 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Hello, Im new here and still getting my sea legs as far as model building. I have a great mentor and guidance with other however I am wondering. What material is used to get the yellow or white markings on Nascar or Formula one tires? For instance....The RR or RL or FR or FL... and usually there are yellow lins going from tire to rim. Any help or suggestions would really be appraciated. Cheers !
Greg Myers Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 (edited) RR, Rear right; RL , rear left; FR, Front right, FL front left. The lines, sometimes red on drag cars or aircraft are to show possible tire slippage on the rim. Edited March 16, 2013 by Greg Myers
thorpedo66 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Not sure you understood him Greg. Think he's asking what do guys use to get those markings on the tires, I'm new to and would also like to no. Thanks Scott!
Guest G Holding Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 chalk on 1:1....flat white acryl is the only other choice for tires
kitbash1 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Slixx has a goodies sheet that has the LF, LR, RF, RR as decals. Or you can go the gel pen route and do it by hand, this would work for the stripes on the side-wall as well.
Greg Myers Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Since these markings are done by hand on the real tires I think the Gel pen route makes sense .
