raildogg Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 What size wheels and tires for Lowboy trailers? Why the use of single rear tires to replace duel rears?. The type of rear end used in the AMT model lowboy editions?. Common tire data for multi- tired Boom Cranes, such as Groove, or P&H?.
Madd Trucker Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 1 the use of super single tires on a truck is to reduse weight unfortunitly they are more expenceive ad if you have a flat your shut down 2 tires ona lowboy will vary depending onthe lowboy the most common tire will be a 11x 22 standard tire 3 not sure on the axles and suspension on the AMT low boy sorry 4 again unsure of the tire sizes on the Groove and P&H cranes
Fabrux Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I once crawled around a CCC carry (what a mouthful!) with I think an 80t crane and I seem to remember the tires being 11x22.5 Goodyear something-or-others. It was a couple years back.
rctruk Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 Here is something you could try. Google Cozad Trailers and check out their specs. Should also work for the cranes. Tire sizes depend on the use and weights involved. I think the AMT trailer has a triple axle walking beam. The tires are the same size as their tractors ( 10.00X22 )
scale trucker Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 the grove crane near my work has 11r24.5 tires and the lobed at work has 285/85/22.5 tires
raildogg Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Thanks guys. I don't get around as much as I used to so it's tough to go and see the real thing to do measuring.
