phil-east Posted April 1, 2013 Posted April 1, 2013 Hi all I have been looking for a good match for the Yellow/Green paint on Mr Beans mini and am struggling to find anything close. I have limited options in terms of paint brands where i live and am reluctant to buy online as i find it hard to judge the colour. Have any of you guys built a "Bean mini" before ? if so what did you go with ? Ideally i'd like to mix my own but i am pretty clueless with paint mixing. Thanks in advance for any help and suggestions, all are welcome. Phil
GeeBee Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 There's a few online stores that I deal with, that will mix the paint you need, the colour code is BLVC73, the colour is called Citron yellow. Try here :- http://www.auto-paint.co.uk/carpaint/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=199
phil-east Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 brilliant, thanks a lot, what thinner and ratio do you suggest I use with these paints for airbrushing ? or would buying the aerosol be a better option (bearing in mind I am very inexperienced with using my airbrush) I always thought getting paint mixed would be expensive but the prices are great ! thanks again.
GeeBee Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 For a better finish and better control I would always advise using an airbrush, even the basic Badger airbrush will give you a better finish that an aerosol, and of the course, the more you use it, the more expericence you'll get with it. I never mix out the paint to thinner ratio, I suppose I have been doing it for so long, I just know who much thinners to pour in, but start with a 50:50 and see where you go with that, you well have to go as far as 70:30 (30 parts paint to 70 parts thinner). If you really get stuck with the painting, you could always send the body and the paint to me, and I'll do it for you, and send it back when it's finished.
phil-east Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 thanks again Geoff, i'll let you know how i get on once i get started (and probably bother you with more questions that arise !) which brand of thinner do you use ? i currently have a humbrol enamel thinner and a tamiya acrylic thinner, will i need to invest in a different type ?. Thanks for the offer of painting the body but i am determined to get this right however long it takes, thanks again - Phil
