silverdreamss Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 need some help dont know if i should clear the whole car?
PowerPlant Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 Nice work so far. What color is that? As far as clearing goes, you should only clear parts you painted that you want to shine... So, no interior etc... You do not need to clear the chrome bits. Really, most people only clear the body, sometimes the engine... You could put a flat clearcoat on non-shiny parts, but I do not find that necessary if you used flat paint to begin with.
lazlow Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) good job on the wires and hoses. if you are going to clear coat it, you would need to mask off every thing includeding the windos but it could be done. Just my opinion, but if it were me and you want to leave the hood black, dont clear coat the hood leave it flat. Edited April 3, 2013 by lazlow
silverdreamss Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 paint is metalic gun metal black but it was left over from when i painted the calibers on my silverado ss (real truck) so it has ceramic in it and was very heavy and thick i wouldnt recommend it i just used light coats and it came out great it was like 15 bucks a can though cause it was special made for high heat brakes it was just what i had laying in the garage at the time i got the model lol i want to find some rims for this thing real bad but dont have the first clue where to buy them other than ebay where i got the resin hood and its kind hard not knowing if they will fit i really want to get some kind of drag radial for the back cause the tires on it now i hate i mean they are old style cragers but without any detail and the tire just looks cheap to me lol thats my next hunt for this along with some kind of tach and gauges if i can find them somewhere im getting to the point where i know im going to have to start trying to make some parts but like i said this is my second model and i am still gathering working materials paint brushs ect. its alot of fun though im hooked i love cars and with drag racing such an expensive hobby this is great for me right now

silverdreamss Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 (edited) looking for a pro star or something that is from maybe a pro comp car i really hate the tires i have on it i want something more detailed mybe with lettering on the side like goodyear or mickey thimpsons so i can maje the white letter tires a drag radial would be ideal but as far as slicks everythng i find is to tall and requires tubbing it also looking for new carbs as well Edited April 4, 2013 by silverdreamss
Dragfreak Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Great job it looks great! if you have the revel '69 nova kit or somebody could supply you with the drag wheels and tires that would look good, it has convo pros with slicks that would fit under the chevelle with out tubbing it and on the decal sheet there is 4 hoosier decals. hope this helps dragfreak
Rob McKee Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 Man, that is one fine looking Chevelle you have built. As Dragfreak has mentioned above the Nova kit is a good source for wheels. I find it is actually cheaper to look for full kits with wheels that I want rather then buy aftermarket wheel sets. The bonus is all the extra parts you will have for other builds. Sometimes you can find some really good deals on used kits online in Craigslist. Fantastic job on a great car.
nhra1625 Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 The wheels in the special edition revell nova are beautiful and would work great ok on this. They are skinnies in the front and small slicks in the rear. Not too tall either as the nova kit isn't even tubbed.
Dragfreak Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 (edited) I'm sorry for hi-jacking your thread but In case you aren't familiar with the centerline convo pro heres a set on a '71nova (note this isn't my picture) and here's my '69 nova built similar to the other nova using the convo pros included in the kit, these would fit a work great on your Chevelle.
