jamie Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 This is a build I did of Richard Petty's famous crash from the 1988 Daytona 500. The first picture is the reference shot I used.. And yes, It was fun as anything to build this one! I get more comments and questions about this build than most of my others...go figure.... I have this one, along with the Allison Buick in a display because they're both from the 1988 Daytona 500. Great race....
Billy Kingsley Posted October 18, 2007 Posted October 18, 2007 That's why you're "King of the wrecks", Jamie!
jamie Posted October 23, 2007 Author Posted October 23, 2007 That's why you're "King of the wrecks", Jamie! Thanks, Billy... man, this is a tough crowd!!!!
bsoder Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 That's very convincing!..I bet the "King" still doesn't like thinking about that one
Guest roadkill2525 Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 That looks awesome, and to think Richard walked away with a injured ankle.
Ron Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Thats very cool build...I cant tell the difference from the reference shot and the model. Great build on this. I have that race on tape....kinda makes me want to watch it! Ron
Olle F Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Great build, would love to see this in person one day to check out the details. I'm sure even the poop stains on the seat are there.
Robert81 Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 That is sweet!!! I think i remember watching that race with my dad ( I was 7). that is the race he cartwheeled down the fence, right?
jamie Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 Thanks for the compliments guys! I appreciate them! Yes, this puppy barrel-rolled many times against the fence, then got clobbered by (i think) Buddy Baker when it came to a complete stop. Crazy.....
