my80malibu Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I sprayed some Dulicolor "scratch filler primer" on a body earlier tonight, when it dried it was Glossy grey, not flat. Has anyone else had this happen? This was a new can that I just bought at Autozone, Duplicolor may have changed the formula.
tabsscale1 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 The scratch filler primer does have a shine to it. have some that is over 5 years old that is like that
my80malibu Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 I buy that primer all the time.It has never looked like this.
ScaleDale Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 There are two kinds now, one in small cans with fancy nozzles and big old cheap ones. Which are we talking about? I use Hot Rod Grey and White in large sandable and both come out flat. They do take on a sheen after the sanding, though.Dale
Steven Zimmerman Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Duplicolor markets primer in both lacquer base and enamel base. If you get the wrong one, you will get a big surprise when you paint over it......
my80malibu Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 The one I bought, is perfect match it's in the short cans for automotive use, been using it for a few years now, Never seen this before. I would guess its laquer, it dries fast!. I prefer the plasticote but dont like the long drive, '16 miles" it takes to get the stuff.
slammedi'am Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I always buy the larger cans...More paint for the same price..
Ira Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I use the DupliColor Grey Lacquer Filler/Primer. It has a little shine, not completely flat...
