Joe Handley Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Get enough dash cams here in the States, I'm sure we'll start rivalling Russia or China, especially in bigger urban centers.
CJ1971 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Really?? Your talking about a television show showing police chases, some of which are from other countries. What we are talking about here is everyday people, not criminals trying to escape the law. These are people driving the streets of these countries every day causing crash after crash!!!!! i can show you fifty videos of horrible Russian drivers. I challenge you to show me that many from here in the US! You ARE kidding yourself mate? And I suppose Cops is a Russian show? You live in a country with over 313 million people ( as of 2012 ) & I suppose you think they're all angels, no-one smokes crack there either? No-one gets caught DUI? No-one runs from the Po-lice? Snap out of it mate....
sjordan2 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) In this list, you will get an idea of traffic deaths by country. The rates among African countries are nothing less than astonishing, but there are many others that are far higher than the US, and Australia is one of the lowest. Fatalities per 100,000 motor vehicles: World average: 93.3 Australia: 8 (unless you count kangaroo and emu roadkill) USA: 15 Russia: 55.4 And the winner is: Togo: 14,050 Followed by: Ethiopia: 11,667 Central African Republic: 8,050 Moral: Don't take a cab or bus in Africa. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_traffic-related_death_rate Edited July 28, 2013 by sjordan2

I drive these roads everyday. I actually LIVE here in the US. I also watch the news everyday, when there are accidents, they show them. The local news would need to be on 24 hours if we had that many accidents and they reported them. You (Cliff) keep defending them by bringing up things that are totally irrevelent! What does smoking crack have to do with bad driving????? Show me video after video of EVERY DAY, NORMAL drivers in America having as many accidents as these other countries and then you'll have a point! Until then, your fooling yourself!
charlie8575 Posted July 28, 2013 Author Posted July 28, 2013 Charlie I stand behind you. I Just came back from holidays in Cape Cod (spent a day Boston) . I don't think I saw one loonatic behind the wheel. I saw polite, courteous and respectful drivers, in fact in all of the USA. Your left lane law is excellent. When you travel to Canada, you must think we are rude. As well, I felt embarrassed when I returned to Home, after driving perfectly manicured highways, only to find overgrown ditches, with trash....and no one would get out of the way......If you come to Canada, excuse the mess, and the drivers. You survived a week on the Cape in July and you still think we're good drivers?! That's when the Cape and its traffic is at its absolute worst. Our roads aren't as good as they used to be, actually, although several large stretches of highway are finally getting repaved. I hope you enjoyed your visit, and do come back. I've never been to Canada save one overnight to Montreal when I was 13- somehow my parents managed to pick a Saturday when the whole city- stores, museums, everything, were closed. I would like to try again, but first I need enough money for a passport and to travel. Charlie Larkin
The70judgeman Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I think Gregg and Quick GMC nailed it best. With all the insurance scams and people just looking for a quick buck, drivers have been installing cameras in their cars as a "CYA" thing to prove their innocence against a scammer.

An in depth study of US TV shows (Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, Bones...) has led me to believe this may be due to a failure to wear a seat belt combined with constant use of a mobile phone whilst driving.

Mate you must be living in Wonderland, how's Alice by the way? What do you MEAN what does smoking crack, taking some type of illegal narcotic, drinking ( alcohol ) & then getting behind the wheel of a vehicle, probably killing innocent people & themself, have to do with this?? I'll ask again, ARE YOU KIDDING YOURSELF PAL?? These crack smokers, drug takers, drink-drivers ARE NORMAL, everyday people!!! They're not celebrities or aliens, ARE THEY?! Dead set, you ARE a GOOSE! I think you'll find the World stats ( above ) are daily statistics NOT yearly!
Maindrian Pace Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Simmer down, Cliff. Why is this becoming a "My country is better than yours" yawnfest? We are all better drivers than the Russians, how about we leave it at that. -MJS

I made no mention of my country or any other, other than pointing out that the good ol' U S of A can be just as bad as every other country. My mate up ^^ there seem's to think there aren't crazy, stupid drivers & pedestrians in his neck of the woods... He's kidding himself ... That is all.
Ben Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I am most certainly NOT a goose! I'm a duck, there's a difference!
Burnout Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 Geez, I live and drive here in the USA and sometimes it seems EVERYBODY behind the wheel is a moron intoxicated or not. I also lived in Russia for most of the '90's and traveled all over the country. Despite the prevalence of alcohol in Russian culture it is worth mentioning that the tests administered for a drivers license is much more stringent than here in Colorado. Driving lessons were also required (at least in the Moscow region). Also, despite the misguided perceptions of some (probably caused by such videos), Russian's seemed to me to take driving and drinking much more seriously than most Americans. We always had a designated driver and those driver's never had even one drink if they had to drive. I was always impressed by their diligence. Finally, on the negative side, although seatbelts are required by law, they are seen as a slight to one's manhood.

If you look at the chart, as I stated in my post, you'll find that the stats are annual fatalities per country per 100,000 vehicles. Do you have different statistics? (By the way, Alice is really hot and Wonderland is cool. What have you got in the land of Oz? Judging by your rudeness, you have flying monkeys coming from somewhere under your rainbow,) Edited July 29, 2013 by sjordan2
