Starting in 1968 the NHRA put all street roadsters with superchargers into the Gas classes. A gas class car with the front clip removed would run in altered. Virgil Cates from Ohio had a C/G 33 Willys. He would remove the front clip and run C/A. At one time he owned the national record in both classes with the same car.
