JAFFA Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Ive been on a break from the hobby for a while now but a fun lill purchase is allways a good way to "awaken the enthusiasm", so thats what i did.. I decided to start with the undercarriage and work my way up from there, while waiting for that paint to dry i started workin on the interior, wich is where my troubles startet... Thats what i got so far, a good start i guess. So anyways,,,, all the paint i layed on the interior was kind cracked all over (is this what you english-native tonged people calls crazing??) So im thinking of dippin the stuff in brakingfluid for a night, but im worried it will "melt" the gauges n the vinyl-tecture too... anyones knows anything?
VW Dave Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 If the gauges and vinyl texture you speak of are molded in the plastic, the brake fluid will not harm them at all.
Jairus Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Oven cleaner works faster and will not harm the plastic! But, do NOT breath the fumes. I spray the object while holding my breath... put it into a coffee ground can and snap the lid tight. Then wash your hands with soap and water. Very caustic stuff but it works!
jbwelda Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 another option, if it is available in sweden, is castrol "super clean". particularly if the paint is testors enamel, i have removed obscenely thick layers of it in only 24 hours, and it doesnt harm the plastic at all in my experience.
