kmjmusic Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Sharp and clean..Love it! I'm starting this kit this weekend any pointers?
b_lever1 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Just got one of these myself that is the perfect way to lower that frontend. I see lots of guys going after market that is not my style.I personally am a build it not buy it like the real hot rods built not bought
Dinky Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks guys. Bobby my grill did not fit very good, I found out when body was already painted. Better to do this before painting. And the quality of some chrome parts is terrible that one of the reasons why my scoop is black For the rest this it a great kit to build!
crazyrichard Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 just saw the end result .. and man .. thats just insanely cool , clean build and perfect !
Johan020 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Very goodlooking willys Where did you buy those beautifull wheels ?
Dinky Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks all for the great comments. @ Johan, i bought them at http://www.philshobbyshop.com www.toms.nl is selling them also but they are in backorder for about a year now. Dont know if you are going to IPMS in two weeks but you might find them there.
Johan020 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 @dinky Thanks and yeh i knew that about toms For sure i go to nieuwegein to see the IPMS this month Nice to see that many dutch people visit this great website
kmjmusic Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Thanks for the head up Arno. I havent started painting mine yet so I'll make sure to check the fit. One more question though..where did you get your ignition wires?
Dinky Posted October 12, 2013 Author Posted October 12, 2013 I bought those in Czech republic but i know Phil hobbyshop is selling them also in the US. Its the Detail master DM-3201. One tip, dont use it because the diameter is too big for the Willys There is not enough space for it unless you cut the body of the car or lower the engine at the front. The engine is little bit tilted backward, I lowered it so that i could use this distributor. I ended up with exhaust that did not fit anymore, same for radiator hoses, the electric fan on the radiator and more extra work Search for Parts by Parks, prewired distributor kit. This one is as big as the original plastic one in the box.
kmjmusic Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Wow.. ok thanks for the heads up. Thats alot of work but I must admit that they ended up looking killer on your build! I'll check out parks and see what they have. I will confess I did paint my air scoop like yours because I thought it was a nice touch! Thanks again!
Dinky Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 Welcome Bobby, This one took a lot of time because its my first lowered model and I removed the paint multiple times because I changed my mind about the color multiple times but I'm very happy with the end result I'm looking forward to the pictures of your Willys.
Dinky Posted October 13, 2013 Author Posted October 13, 2013 Bobby, this is the difference between the two distributors. Left: Detail Master Right: Parts by Parks The right one is about the size of the original that's in the Willys box.
IceMan Collections Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 My first "on the bench" project on the forum Started with the Revell 41 Willys street rod. Basecoat on the body: That black is smooth. What brand paint did you use?
Dinky Posted October 14, 2013 Author Posted October 14, 2013 That black is smooth. What brand paint did you use? Thanks, the black is Vallejo Air "basic" black (nothing special) and the Clear is Zero Paints 2k
