disabled modeler Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Yesterday, while on my way home from the VA, there was a funeral procession on I-575 .. from Woodstock on it's way to the National Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Cartersville Ga. so, It was lead and followed up by the Cherokee County Sheriffs Dept. Lights were on on all vehicles, 4- Way flashers were on, there were about 15-20 cars in total. It didn't stop people from overtaking, cutting into the line, basically driving like jerks. Have we sunk so low as a nation, as a people, that a Veteran, headed to his final resting place is disrespected like this ? That people are so self absorbed, so ignorant , so inconsiderate ? Is their time so much more important than someone else's that they can't just be courteous ? I see a lot of disrespect from people who are quick to slap a sticker on their car saying " I support out troops".. most of them should add " as long as it doesn't inconvenience me" .. ok, I'll end my rant here, I just needed to get this off my chest .. Agreed....
LDO Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Once again, the guy working on my truck. Still no work done. I'd take it home and demand a refund, but I doubt I'd ever see my money.

Can't even get people to act respectfully for non servicemen who've fallen, this isn't a shock either
disabled modeler Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Ok todays one for me was I had to have a battery cable made for our truck 2 gauge 5 foot long....what the guy made was a 2.0 gauge which cost twice the price...cant be returned he said ether...crook.

They're extinct, because today's cars have to meet ever more stringent federal government MPG standards... which means cut as much weight as possible... which means if thinner sheetmetal will save a few pounds per car, then thinner sheetmetal it is.

That is inexcusable, but not surprising anymore.

BUT!!!.....under no circumstances let the car fail some crash test. Next, corrugated paper cars...They already have bikes made of them.
MsDano85gt Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 your right Harry! Much much thinner metal the glass and the glue holding the glass in the vehicle are what really support a lot of todays vehicles "structurally" so window glass in vehicles actually do hold purpose besides splattering bugs...... just hope I keep my job This is my first and hopefully only incedent cutting a pinchweld........ No bonuses for me for the rest of the year defenetely gonna have to cover the cost of the body shop repair bill welding a car back together!! Thank goodness it was a rental car vs. customers car still not a good situation nonetheless! yeesh
Tom Geiger Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Thank goodness it was a rental car vs. customers car still not a good situation nonetheless! yeesh Couldn't just smear some glue over it, pop the glass in and run away??
charlie8575 Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 Couldn't just smear some glue over it, pop the glass in and run away?? The glue might actually be stronger. Charlie Larkin
Joe Handley Posted November 14, 2013 Posted November 14, 2013 The glue might actually be stronger. Charlie Larkin With some of the industrial adheasives available now, the glue could be stronger than the shet metal of old everybody is getting misty eyed over.
Randytheroadrunner Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Guys that post pics of their builds or pics of new models, and 2 days later their pics won't show up.

The same thing happened to my late fathers funeral procession. WW2 Navy veteran, Korean war veteran. Guy zoomed out of an on- ramp from the right, cut the hearse off and almost caused a chain reaction crash. Ohio State trooper nailed his ### about 10 miles further down the road. Would liked to have stopped to "chat" with this individual, but I had more pressing things to deal with. To you and ALL veterans on this forum, Thank you for your service!!! Happened to me once with the water company. Spent the whole day sitting here waiting for them to let them in my basement. Nobody shows. Called them the next day and they said they did come, but nobody was home! Right!
Nxr Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Sounds like 311 showing up 8 months later after a call to remove an abandoned toyota camry on my block. Or taking 5 months to call back on a building mold emergency.. We need some better workers in those places, i swear half of the 311 doesn't even speak English.

Called them the next day and they said they did come, but nobody was home! Right! The above incident was over the summer. They wanted to replace my water meter since it was 20 years old. So they did. Yesterday I get a notice from them that they want to replace my water meter because it's 20 years old! I can't wait to call them in the morning. I'll bet they still want to come out.
Rob Hall Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 The comments about waiting on service men to show up reminds me of years ago (1997) when I first moved into an apartment in Colorado Springs. I had a window from noon to 5 for the service guy to set up the phone service. 5 came and went. I then called the phone company, they said they had called twice that afternoon to tell me they had to reschedule...on the phone number they were coming to set up. Hmmm...something wrong with that picture.
Pete J. Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Pulled up to the drive up at the bank. Two lanes to use. It is Sunday, so there are only two cars ahead of me, one in each lane. The first lane had a blue hair in a huge white Cadillac. Little old lady is punching the buttons on the ATM with reckless abandon and cursing the thing for not doing what she wanted. The guy in the other lane is too stupid to get close enough to the machine to reach it, so he is half in and half out of the car trying to conduct a transition in that awkward position. So which line should I get in. After 5 minutes, I gave up and went to a different location. Come on folk! Either learn to use the machines or wait until Monday and go into the bank. The rest of us are waiting.
JunkPile Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 What irks me? Crybabies...so many crybabies! Boohoo
Modelmartin Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 And the pronunciation of the word DECAL. I've heard at least three pronunciations... dee-cal The way most folks say it deh-CAL enthuses on the second syllable. A guy in my club says it this way and will 'correct' you mid sentence, as if he's going to convert the entire hobby to his way. deckle (as in heckle) Maybe a Western Canadian thing? I avoid that issue by going with the Brits - water-slide transfers!
Tom Geiger Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Pulled up to the drive up at the bank. ... Come on folk! Either learn to use the machines or wait until Monday and go into the bank. The rest of us are waiting. I'm always behind the guy who seems to be applying for a mortgage or something! One time at a walk up ATM there was one person ahead of me. A young girl and her boyfriend. The ATM told them they had no money in the account. The guy kept telling her to try again. It's not like on the 3rd or 4th try you'll fool the darn machine!
BKcustoms Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Well my car started backfiring after school and when I popped the hood I found that the driver side header only had 2 bolts holding it on causing an extreme exhaust leak.
