DrKerry Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I was just trying to be funny, as if that's the only thing we can afford to do, and the tractors are sitting unsold long enough to have the tires rot. I could have said John Deer but the dealer is too far away to walk to. Things are going to get more business friendly before anything gets better. Hey, leave the Deere alone now. I work at that place......
Harry P. Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 The stinkin' Bears. If they had won tonight, they would have clinched the division title and a playoff spot. Instead, they rolled over and played dead for the Eagles, and got humiliated. Now the Bears have to beat the Packers next week to win the division. If they lose, they're out of the playoffs. Geez... talk about choking in a big game. It was pathetic.
DrKerry Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Sorry Harry but after the dismal day today I hope the Packers win!!!!!!

Ace-Garageguy Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Weather forecasters. These guys make a lot of money, and half the time I might as well flip a coin to guess the weather, rather than look at a forecast. A LOT of what I'm doing at the moment is weather-critical, and I NEED to know with some certainty what will happen within the next 24 hours. The National Weather Service used to be really good, but I think they must have fired everyone who actually knew what they were doing...maybe as a cost saving ploy? Sure wish I could only get MY work right half the time and still get paid. Whine whine whine.

But remember... predicting the weather, as sophisticated as it has become, is still basically predicting the future. No way you can be right all the time.
Mike Kucaba Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yeah, the weather reports suck big time, but at least there are some hot lookin' gals doing the forecasts lately.
Mike Kucaba Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Yes I did buy from him before, and recently too! I did find a way to contact the seller, and we both left positive feed back. I'm still waiting for a response.
Lunajammer Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 But remember... predicting the weather, as sophisticated as it has become, is still basically predicting the future. No way you can be right all the time. I think computer modeling has improved forecasting data, but the meteorologist still has be skilled at interpreting it. Too many media forecasters just "plug and play." The good ones, and there are some, are true weather enthusiasts who do their own analysis and professional enough to explain their degree of confidence if they don't have enough info to make a concrete prediction at air time. Maybe cut down the celeb appearances.
Mike Kucaba Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 This just in. After getting the ability to reply to posts, now the quote button doesn't work. This just in. After getting the ability to reply to posts, now the quote button doesn't work.
Rob Hall Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) Then you have the Weather Channel which is pretty much 'weathertainment'--they seem to hype the drama more than provide the facts. Though I really don't pay attention much to the weather forecasts here--it is so predictable..sunny and dry 90% of the time. Edited December 23, 2013 by Rob Hall
Harry P. Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Doing weather forecasting in Arizona has to be about the most boring job ever. Tonight: Dry and warm. Tomorrow: Sunny, dry, and hot. Repeat 365 times per year!

Tomorrow: Sunny, dry, and hot. Repeat 365 times per year! Once in a while we do get rain and cool weather. And in monsoon season, we get thunderstorms and haboobs (dust storms)..there is some drama, but much less than other places I've lived.. Edited December 23, 2013 by Rob Hall
Harry P. Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I think if you make a living forecasting the weather in Chicago, you deserve combat pay. When they say "if you don't like the weather around here, just wait a few minutes, it'll change," they aren't kidding!
Danno Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Nice thing is that sunshovels are a whole bunch lighter and last longer than snowshovels.

They always said that about Cleveland...winters were always unpredictable in NE Ohio the 6 years I lived in the area...
crazyjim Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I read somewhere that Farmer's Almanac is more accurate for weather forecasts than TV/radio.
JunkPile Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Jim, could you have read that in the Farmer's Almanac?
Craig Irwin Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I think it's funny how forecasters can't accurately forecast tomorrows weather are telling us what will happen 20 to 50 years out
Harry P. Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I saw a cloud today. G Was it shaped like a pony?
Mike Kucaba Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Now THIS just in: Before I couldn't REPLY... Now I can REPLY, But can't post pics... Of the five or six forums only THIS one do I have so much contention with.

Tomorrow: Sunny, dry, and hot. Repeat 365 times per year! I spent 9 days in San Diego a few years ago. By day 3 I swear the weather forecaster was a cardboard cutout with a tape-loop: Sunny & 78. Perfect day to be alive in San Diego…. Edited December 24, 2013 by FASTBACK340
Danno Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Nothing has irked me today. Nothing can irk me today. It's Christmas.
