Focus on the benefits of the surgery when you start to get angry. Take a deep breath and focus your mind on something positive. Keep track of your progress on a calender and take pride in each day you you have quit. It's a tough journey but you can do it one step at a time. Little Timmy
Day 4 : the flaming schoolbus in my yard was just a distraction,,... The man lobbing grenades at me never saw it coming.... Thats when I realised, ... Nicotine withdrawal has got me hallucinating... the headache is the worst part of it. But, I think if I can just last 2 more days, I can beat this. I only smoked for 45 years, so yea, ...it's Wickedly taunting me. 89AKurt
Some will think this is a stupid thing to be annoyed about, but because I had the toughest teacher in High School, who taught Senior English, it's bugging me. I got an F the first quarter, but he was a great teacher, and I improved each quarter. Are schools teaching to put the $ AFTER the numbers now? I'm seeing this more nowadays. This person is American, so don't give me the Euro thing coming after the amount. Topic was a model shop in Burbank CA.

espo
Next time you go to the market or some fast-food place and give them some coins, change, to even the balance so that they only have to give you paper money as change and watch their head explode. I don't like to have a bunch of coins in my pocket anyway, but this is something I have found entertaining at times. 1

TonyK
Grocery shopping. I shop from an ad every week and pride myself on saving money. The ads have gotten more and more tricky to look through with all the digital coupons you have to download and make sure you apply it to the correct size of what you're buying. Then you've got "buy5/save whatever" gimmicks that I may or may not do. Depends on if I really need 5 various items to make it work. My point being, I'm getting older and notice I sometimes screw up and cost myself money because I didn't study the ad properly and I mean STUDY. OldTrucker
Was about .50 cents a pack when I quit cold turkey for my new bride late 1970. Started back up for a couple years while working for the government Funny thing is still after almost 50 years not smoking every now and then I catch a whiff of someones smoke and for a second or two feel the urge! I like many of my friends started smoking very young. Guess we all thought we were so grown up even though we hadn't started shaving yet. I suffer from seasonal allergies as well as Asma and have no business smoking. In my early twenties I got very sick and even had a sinus infection. Long talk with the doctor convinced me to try and stop. I also found for the first couple of years that having a nice cold Beer without a Cigarette was all but impossible for me. After a couple of years, I started to be put-off by the smell of smoke and haven't smoked since. Maybe after rejecting smoking in time, you will be just fine without. I chewed a lot of gum as well, but sometimes it's just the ritual of lighting the cigarette and handling it that is sort of a habit that is also hard to break. BlackSheep214
Complete idiotic morons that are just too F’n dumb and stupid to leave wildlife alone in Yellowstone National Park. Two news articles yesterday with one dumb*** taking a baby elk to a nearby police station. The other even just as dumb as the other tried to save a Buffalo calf by the river’s edge. Sadly (and needlessly) both had to be euthanized. Even more so it just p***es me off are tourist can’t or don’t understand the rules of staying away from wildlife in the park. I’ve seen far too many stupid people getting mauled, gored, whatever by Buffalo, elk, bears, etc… What is wrong with people? After seeing/reading reports of stupidity amongst Yellowstone tourists, I have zero desire to go there. Too many tools missing from the toolbox. No wait, the whole toolbox is missing. Tourists that have gotten mauled, gored, trampled by Yellowstone wildlife deserve it. The Yellowstone rangers should fine tourists heavily ($10,000 sounds like a fair fine) for getting close to wildlife - be it petting them, getting too close to them, attempting to “save” baby wildlife to “rejoin the herd”, etc… Rant over… 2

CabDriver
I wasn’t really IRKED, but this lady DID nearly head-on collide with three different cars at this roundabout by me…and when everyone was honking and waving at her she responded by, obviously, circling round twice more, faster each time. I would’ve been irked if I wasn’t always EXPECTING some form of idiocy on my commute and she’d managed to hit me head on…

Yes, that irks me too, and the only excuses can think of are that phonetically you say "ten dollars" and not "dollars ten", or that in many other countries the denomination symbol is placed before the numerical amount. Maybe we can blame the globalization, and the Internet (we can blame everything on the Internet, right)? The globalization also shows up in $20US, $30AU, or $40HK. At least those make sense. How can you possibly be upset at them? Lets blame this on the the Internet, video games, smart phones, and poor educational system in this country. Yes, this country is full of clueless citizens. CabDriver
Something that concerns me on this subject… Dumb people surely don’t think they’re dumb. No one usually thinks “hey, I’m a real baloonhead”. But also, I don’t think I’m dumb. So…how do I know FOR SURE I’m not dumb? How could I ever know if I was?!

Consistent ability to comprehend and communicate intelligibly? Understanding how things work in reality? There are lots of ways. But there's interesting psychological research that indicates stupid people are usually quite certain they're smart, and hold steadfastly to every belief (and swallow what they're told by "experts") without question, while smart people often doubt themselves...and everything else. And it's not a new idea. Edited June 7, 2023 by Ace-Garageguy
