That’s some bad luck David!

Made quite a mess Carl. It sprayed everywhere. Guess I'll have to get new glasses as there are speckles of blue paint on them. Can't get them off and don't want to try anything too harsh on them.

When I first saw your horrifying dilemma my mind went immediately to you could always join the "The Blue Man Group". But I didn't have the heart. I too have ruined a pair of two of prescription glasses from either walking into the mist or from the splashed droplets that occurred while pouring lacquer into the cup on my spray gun at work. Never anything to your level of coverage though. Try waxing? Maybe some of the non chemical strippers used on models? If the glasses are trash what's to lose?

I need a new set of glasses anyhow. Is this will be more of an incentive to go get them. LOL

I used to not be.. but now living with my dad and his pal dementia I've learned to deal with many things unimaginable to most with laughter or a more silly side. If not ? life could be miserable or even unbearable. Neither are an option!

I firmly believe that is the attitude to take. Rolling with the punches and seeing the humor in things also means less stress which can cause health issues.

It also helps to realize that things could have been a lot worse. You were fortunate you were wearing glasses, otherwise you would have gotten paint in your eyes.

I use the could of been worse train of thought quite a bit and also the bite my tongue method too. Always followed up a few minutes of unwind time to alleviate the stress.

? paint in my eyes..  Nope I never ever had that happen ?? burns at first and makes ya tear up. Oh by BTW it doesn't taste good either.. ? just saying!

Mineral sprits shouldn’t hurt them or alcohol wipes like you have for shots!

We got the ring camera and boy is it shocking how stuff is delivered. For example, i got a model train car delivered today, marked as extremely fragile, I watched the video of the mailman throwing in stride at my door from the sidewalk. Didn't even slow down. The weight in the train popped out so I had to take it apart and tape it down again

Yesterday he was a little more careful because my neighbor was there, he actually stopped but dropped them waste high

Have you ever mentioned this problem to the Postmaster at your Post Office?  Should they express an interest you could share your ring camara video. If not, then maybe the local TV News guy that always cover customer complaints might be interested. Not to be a complainer, but if the problem is never brought to the attention of whoever might have control over the postal delivery it will never stop.

I honestly dont want to go that route.  im sure the guy knows that we have the ring and doesnt care. if we call and complain, he might just smash stuff away from the camera before gently placing it down on my porch, and then claim it was like it when he got it.

its similar to how i will never complain about my food at a restaurant, poorly tasting food is much better than spit filled food

obviously if something breaks and is not fixable, i might ask the postmaster to cover it. this on the other hand, it was 25 to 30 minutes of getting it apart and putting it back together

That is the dilemma nowadays. We experience some really poor service from an individual on whom we depend on, but we are afraid to report it worrying about possible repercussions.

If this service is a paid for service then I would have to can their butt and find a new provider of that same service. I personally have no problem calling out BS and eliminating it. Not on my dime!

We are taking about Postal Service employee, or restaurant staff.  Even if they got canned, with the way today's world is, they could find you and kill you. In today's world killing someone is not a big deal.  But they would likely not get canned, so they would continue to provide the sub-par service to you.

Yes, I'm exaggerating a bit, but you get my point.

I get what your saying but I come from a time when law was respected and individuals took pride in their work and had values as you probably did also.. Those attributes may have all been changed by those in charge but I will not conform to those Bozos and their ideologies as so many has. As for the postal worker.. It would be a cost to you and a real pain in the arse but there is always the P.O. box to get those precious packages. When it comes to restaurants, I won't go back but I make sure the management knows the reason for my departure. No second chances when it comes to my food!

Once my plate hits the table it stays there unless it’s the wrong order. I might complain to the waiter about the meal before leaving if it was really bad, then I’d not return.

A short story about a typical exchange. Simplified for quick reading.

New guy: *makes a thread with interesting content, but starts it by calling moderators jerks*

Moderators: *not approving that thread*

New guy: Hey, why aren't you guys approving my thread?

Moderators:

The end.

Sorry, but I really have to disagree.

The reason so many get away with what they get away with is that so many others don't say anything about it for whatever justification they give themselves.

I was having almost weekly problems with deliveries from my local PO...packages left on the street next to the mailbox, books hammered into the mailbox with damage to corners and bindings, boxes left in puddles in the driveway, left on top of cars in the rain, left in the middle of the yard, or just mis-delivered entirely (next door, several blocks away, etc.)...and after repeated email complaints to the Postmaster, miraculously, no more problems.

I don't have any idea if my complaints had anything to do with the change, but surely I wasn't the ONLY one affected by the delivery peoples' poor performance, so the combined influence of others who probably complained too apparently got something done.

And so far, nobody's come to kill me. And if someone should, let's just say I'm kinda prepared (vicious attack-cats). ;)

So far, so good with USPS delivery at my new house. Been here almost 6 months. The mail lady either walks the packages down my long driveway or drives down.  She even brings the letter mail to my door when there are packages.  Leaves them in a USPS basket at the door under the overhang out of the weather.

Yes preparation is key to one's survival in todays world. I don't have any attack-cats but my "squirrels" are in key positions and fully loaded for anyone who thinks they have the right to attempt any provocation to me or my loved ones ? best think twice..

i am going to give a little background on why im hesitant. i had something not deliver even though it said out for delivery after 5pm, it said that there was an issue or whatever and it would be delivered the next day. it was an item that was close to 90 dollars, and that is a lot of money for me.

the next day, i checked it and it didnt say out for delivery, so i assumed it was coming. the mailman usually comes around noon or 1 or so, but i saw him go by and deliver my mail, but no package. then i checked the tracking again, and it said delivered at 8am to my po box. however, i dont have a po box. I called the local post office and explained what i was seeing. he called the mailman, and he said he was doing his mail, but would deliver the package after.

the next day, the mailman said to me that he had a doctors appointment and had to have a half day and that was why my package wasnt delivered, i tried to explain i wasnt complaining it wasnt delivered, i was worried since it was marked as delivered to a po box, which i dont have.

ever since then, i been noticing that im hearing boxes being dropped. maybe he always did this, i dont know. i only recently got the ring to see what i saw, so maybe he has been a jerk the whole time with boxes, but i dont want to complain after calling previously and it being worse than it is. honestly, if the thing didnt break, i wouldnt have cared if he tossed it. i know it wasnt the first time it was tossed during the delivery, so it could have broken anywhere in the line of tosses.

i really have difficulties going out to get stuff and rely on deliveries for 90% of the things in my life. i do not need to have things stop showing up or getting "lost"
