Like Turbo Cat Litter, ya know? About as annoying as the ubiquitous "solutions" that became part of every new business name for a decade, or the even more ridiculous "awesome" that became the positive adjective of choice for for the most mundane and insipid. Can you say "mindless rebleater" boys and girls? All those "as seen on TV" ads are so annoying. Seems that the new buzzword to use is "bionic" Bionic-this Bionic-that. Like a Bionic garden hose. Really? Has anybody looked up a definition of "bionic" and how it could possibly apply to a garden hose (or other similar devices). Or another garden hose ad claims that since it is has copper (likely just plated) hardware, it is safe to drink water from it. Ok, even so, but how about the other lead pipes the water passes through before getting to the hose? These ads are just so stupid (but I guess they are designed to reach their target audience). As for non-stick pots, the ads I see here tout ceramics as the indestructible non-stick surface. Edited December 19, 2023 by peteski 2
Rob Hall Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I hardly ever watch anything with commercials, other than the occasional NFL game or once in while the local news...the ads during the 5pm local news last night were awful, all seemed to be trying to scare retirees to buying additional insurance and such.. 1
Mark Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 How do they get the non-stick stuff to stick to the pan? 2

Yup, the only time I see commercials these days is with the news streams...which more and more I just watch long enough to see if anybody has nuked anybody else yet, so I can start practicing my old duck-and-cover moves. I weaned myself from network tv long ago. Now I can't stand the incessant yammering. If Youtube doesn't stop messing around I'm going to leave them high and dry too. My sympathies to all the streamers that make their living from Youtube, but I'm not going to watch commercials. I've had a lifetime's worth of them.
JollySipper Posted December 19, 2023 Posted December 19, 2023 I believe I'm going to have to buy a humidifier...... With the air being so dry, I'm getting shocked every time I touch something metal. It's compounded by the HVAC unit they installed being the largest one they made at the time (about 8 years ago). This apartment is maybe a three car garage in size, so the air unit was overkill.....

iamsuperdan Posted December 20, 2023 Posted December 20, 2023 December 20, still no snow in this part of Canada. Most days it hasn't even been cold enough to get frost on the windshield in the mornings.

I’ve had that happen…I have two backup Keurigs, an espresso machine, cappuccino machine, and a bean grinder. If all else fails, got McDonalds and a Dunkin nearby…

But unfortunately this seemingly warmer climate also means more tropical (hot and humid) Summer days which I could live without. I wish we could extend Spring and Autumn, and shorten the Winters and Summers.
Rob Hall Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Had a few inches of snow Monday night, but supposed to be in the 50s for XMas here outside Cleveland. Better than the subzero cold we had last year at this time….

I've had to catch moles in my yard every now and then and I still remember the first time I swore once I got him I was gonna kill it with a shovel but couldn't bring myself to do it. I've released them in the woods far away from anything. I get it. An armadillo would be a different situation than a little mole. Tony, i respect your opinion and feelings. He dug a burrow under my shed gave him a chance to leave after we filled it no he moved over did it again.. he is siding my yard up. Holes everywhere. We have boarded around the building one way in and out. Live trap is set. He has a chance to move to the country. A church member set it all up.. 1

I missed him Saturday early goin for a hair cut but next time it’s Mr 12 gauge shotgun and a turkey load. I have to shoot waist high because of my arm still isn’t right where I broke my arm. Yeah, I get those buggers in my yard occasionally too. Some folks may feel shooting them is extreme, but out in the sticks they're a real nuisance. I use a Taurus Judge with .410 shot shells to dispatch them.

Cute to look at. But they can do a lot of damage. One is under the pool deck which is impossible to get to unless we pull the decking up.

In NYS it's illegal to trap a ground hog and transport it somewhere else. Not that I think anyone would report me but you just never know. My luck has never been the best. Example. I'm sure I stop and then go like everyone else at a stop sign. I get pulled over and the officer said "you are suppose to count to 3 when you come to a complete stop before you go again and you didn't". Luckily he didn't give me a ticket. But now days I see people going through red lights. And I get stopped for not counting to 3? Give me a break. Edited December 21, 2023 by ewetwo
BlackSheep214 Posted December 21, 2023 Posted December 21, 2023 Impatient drivers. After dropping off the missus to the hairdresser last night, I decided to go to the local mall and Barnes&Nobles. Sitting in traffic, somebody laid the horn on me when I have a long line of traffic in front of me. Not once but twice at two different traffic lights. The second time an even longer line of traffic due to an accident down the road. The question begs... where the h*** am I suppose to go with both lanes in my direction stuck in traffic?! Geez... everybody's in a hurry to go.... NOWHERES !!!

That's just ridiculous. Maybe you counted fast. Is that even a thing? A lot of police officers seem to really relish pushing people around. There is a reason they have the reputation they do.
