Bell.😕 They gave me a free subscription to Crave tv. Very nice of them I thought. Then I tried to get it on my 60” tv and couldn’t get it to work. So I hooked my iPad up to the tv with an HDMI cable. Everything could play on the tv except Crave. I called Bell and they said the subscription was limited to “small devices” and I have to pay for a premium subscription if I want to watch it on my tv….so it is basically “bait”.😡

Since I'm a stickler on "Christmas starts after Santa arrives at the end of the Macys parade," it's a little bothersome to me when folks put up their Christmas lights barely into November, but that isn't the irk. It's the display of the neighbor across the street. Her all-LED lights are up now a day early, red and white - Christmassy colors so far - but the 3rd color is best described as 'nuclear-reactor-meltdown-radioactive blue.' Super bright. It looks like the 4th of July over there.

We live between two neighbors who go overboard with the LED's , one asked me last year how we liked their lights. I told her it was like living between two strip clubs in Las Vegas. She hasn't spoken to us since !

A couple of the houses across the street have some lights up, if it’s like last year, my neighbors on either side don’t put up lights.  I usually don’t put anything up, and my house is set way back from the street and from each neighbor so usually no issues..

I live in such a poor downtrodden neighborhood nobody is smart enough to put lights up, and they couldn't afford them or the electricity anyway, so usually no issues.  ;)

Maybe later she'll start blaring Elvis's Blue Christmas and complete the effect.  <_<

I have a neighbor that goes completely overboard for Halloween, starts out the first week of September. Still has some of the decorations up now. Does nothing whatsoever for Christmas even though they are very religious.

I’ve read about WiFi color changing LED light strips for putting under the eaves and gutters, can have red/white/blue for July 4th, orange for Halloween, red/green/white for Xmas, etc.  controlled via a phone app.  Neat.

To be honest, I enjoy the lights. I put up lights every year for the grandkids and more importantly the wife. I did quit hanging lights from the gutters though, I don't need to be on the ladder or the roof. That being said, I do have two Christmas decorating dislikes, blow up props and the projector type lights that spot light the house with snowflakes or patterns.. that's just lazy IMO..

Local radio station started playing Christmas music the 1st of November. Wrangler listen to it, way too early.
Think they are trying to cut operating costs as the mid day DJ is mia as well.

Elvis would at least get the person sorta back on track for the season. But this is the same increasingly irrational neighbor (with equally similar visiting relatives) across the street that I described in my Sept 2 irk. White, red and neon super bright green lights right now would at least make sense for the next 4 or 5 weeks. But this 6 months-out-of-date show makes me wonder if the resident is not right in the head. With my luck, the person would instead start blaring Yankee Doodle Dandy music or the William Tell Overture and start firing off roman candles.

Lucky me I never get any of that cr ap on the radio because both my parents vehicles has the same stations: Ozzy's Boneyard, Hair Nation, 80s on 8, Classic Vinyl, Classic Rewind, and The Bridge. Nothing later than 1990, or sooner than 1965, just all the good in between.

Platypuses.

It's always the Platypuses' fault.

?? You might be thinking of someone else. My Sept 2 irk would more likely start with an "N", as in nutcase.

Coldest day of the year so far, so naturally my point-of-use propane-fired water heater for the shower decided to fritz.

After a COLD shower and a walk to the store to warm up a little, it's time to address the problem.

First thing is a trip to the hardware store to get a new regulator, because I have good reason to suspect it.

They don't last forever, and it's 8 years old...but I have another reason to suspect it.

Brrrrrrrrr.     image.jpeg.24ee0c1514dc4d48aca8a890fcade41f.jpeg

Reminds me of the Charly Brown Christmas trees I used to have when I was single.

Went to the Snap Fitness this morning, 18 degrees outside before the wind chill factor. Colder than a brass toilet seat in the Yukon.

Well, apparently the electro-magnetic gas valve in the main unit has died.

No parts of course for an out-of-production piece of Chinese magicalness.

Had to order an entire new replacement, won't be here until the 11th.

Cold showers until then, I guess.

EDIT: Funny, a month or so back my little voice told me I otter get another one for a backup.

But did I listen? Nope.

Poo. Someday I'll learn to trust heem.

Cleaning out the garage this morning, trying to get a load of stuff to Donate. Tripped over a Rug Cleaner, and fell. Broke off 3/4 of my right front tooth, and badly pulled the hamstring in my left leg. Leg Hurts like Billy-O, right now, and the Advil isn't working....

:(

Dentist can get a crown on the tooth, on Thursday. That tooth had a Root Canal last year, so at least the tooth isn't hurting. (Yet)

Going to spend part of the weekend continuing on cleaning out the garage. 7 years of junk in there. Much of it has to go. I need room for the car.

And still waiting on call backs for Job Interviews. Nothing worse than being un-employed for Christmas. This is my Second Christmas with out work. It is really hard on me.......The family is so nice about it but being 61 and out of work on the Holidays, makes me feel a bit of a Loser.

And, one thing did please me. California DMV would not register my 87 Camry because they could not verify the windshield VIN Tag. Forced me to take it to the CHP Substation and have the CHP verify the VIN. CHP Not only verified it, but told me that the DMV here in town refuses to verify Older (1984-2002) Toyota VIN Tags, because "they are too hard to read"........So CHP sees quite a few Older (out of state) Toyotas needing VIN Verification. The CHP officer was very nice, and had nothing good to say about the DMV folks here.

But, I got my paperwork so I can get my California Plates on the little Camry.

Being 18 and never having a job is kinda worse; the situation I'm in now. First applied to the Library in April; but they don't need anyone. Most of the odd job stores around here want you to submit an online resume; which may sort of be the reason why it's a little tricky. Went to American Eagle store in Traverse City back in October and they had a table out front with a stack of blank job application forms and a pencil; wished they were doing that around here. Then college happened and I've been swamped with loads of school work so a job during that time would be null and void as I haven't the time for a job now.

BUT our Christmas break starts a week earlier than high or elementary schools and so with that 3-4 weeks off I'm hoping to get something going. Good luck to you man; you're not the only one feeling down about not having a job.

Nathan. I hear you. But your 'job' right now, is to get an education that will allow you to get and excel at better jobs in the future. I know that you are probably in a big hurry to be an "Adult", and legally you already are one, but trust me, you have some time to make good decisions about your future. Being 'Grown-up' is not all Fun'n'Games, as you no doubt know.

I wish you good luck on your future plans. And Trust me, you'll be 30 years old, before you can blink your eyes twice....
