As I was walklling through our living room I glanced outside by way of the bay window. I had to take a second look, I wasn't sure if I was seeing what I thought I saw, a turkey vulture and a nice sized hawk on the ground. As I went out it appeared that the vulture was waiting for the hawk to finish up eating a squirrel that the hawk had caught. Must of been a quick snack or a fun kill from looks of the remains he left behind. He'd gnawed the head and both front legs down to the bone, everything else, intact. Found it laying in the driveway... with shovel in hand, I returned the unfortunate fellow to the woods..

I bought a new TV the other day. I went to hook up my Pioneer DVD player and find NO RCA inputs on the TV.🤯 They all use HDMI cables now because everything is digital.🤬 So it’s either buy an analog to digital converter or a new DVD player. The converter is cheaper, but the tray on my player won’t stay open, so I gotta be real quick to get the disc in or out….so I got a new blue ray DVD player.

There is a bird that has taken to pooping on my Honda.  I looked out one day and saw it, but didn't have my shotgun handy.  Lived here almost 40 years, never had this, and the car is a 2016.

Just remember not to shot when it's perched on your mirror...🙄

Dad had the same issue a long time ago with his Ranger. I have forgotten what kind of bird it was, but it would sit on the mirror, lean forward, and peck at its reflection in the mirror. It got so excited that it could just.......  well, you know the rest. Dad started wrapping a towel over the mirror and the problem went away.

When I had this problem I used a plastic shopping bag tied around the mirror, it did the trick too.

This was a while ago. The Ranger had non-remote flag-style mirrors. The more I think about it, I think that I gave Dad two Crown Royal drawstring bags to cover the mirrors with 🙂

Dad's next door neighbor had an F250 with color-matched steelies and dog-dish caps. They weren't overly shiny or anything, but the crows would parade around it, stopping to look at their reflection, pooping on the driveway.

Birds seem to do some strange things sometimes. Years ago, had an issue with a Robin that used to fight with its reflection on our dining room window. They are more territorial than you might think.

Today it feels like Schleprock from The Flintstones is nearby. To start things off the cat that doesn't belong at or in our house climbs up onto a pile of neatly organized Christmas decorations and boxes knocking over a few things, starting WW3. Then I get a call from my brother who is out running my aunt to the eye doctor which turns into a shopping trip that turns awkward when my aunt can't find her bank card, obligating my brother to step up and pay. Afterwards they stop to eat lunch out and once again, brother pays the bill. We'll that's not enough for one day..my brother realized that he'd locked his keys in his vehicle, thus causing me to travel a half hour in the 💩y rain at a hi-traffic time of the day to take him a spare key. I'm afraid to ask what's next? Might be a good time to just crawl into bed and say "Phooey"...

Kirt it sees the reflection in the window of the car or mirror.  Move the car and cover the mirrors and if you cut a garbage bag open fr the window.  I had a wasp building in my motorized mirror…

This irks me every time and I know it shouldn't as it's meant with the best intentions. But every year a couple of weeks before Christmas our volunteer FD gets out all the firetrucks and with Santa on the hook and ladder, crawl around the neighborhood for several hours. Sirens going, horns blaring so that Santa can wave at the 3 or 4 kids in the neighborhood that still believe. They just sat in front of my house for 20 minutes so that Santa could go to the end of the block and say hello to one of the members of the board. It drives my dogs absolutely insane and they go running around the house going ape 💩 the whole time. Finally got them to settle down but the FD will be back again later. My wife wanted to know if I waved at Santa, yeah, with my middle finger.

The first year I experienced this I didn't know what the hell was going on. Reminded me of being in school and having the air raid whistles go off and we had to hide under our desks. Are they trying to tell us to evacuate? Are we under attack? Are the woods on fire and they can't handle the blaze so we need to evacuate? Nope, just Santa.

Again, I don't know why it irks me so much but it just does. I think it's because they go so overboard with it. The neighborhood is like 2 square miles and this goes on for the whole afternoon.

Similar thing happened in our neighborhood 20 years ago when we first moved in. It was a street over from us at night with the siren  going and you could hear talking on the speaker but not able to make out what they were saying. We thought there was some warning about something so called the non emergency number and asked. The explanation was similar to what you described.

Might've heard it a time or two in years past but not anymore.

He came by my house last night in his fire trucks.  There were two engines, two or three fire chief vehicles, and one or two other vehicles, lights and sirens going full blast. I thought they were on their way to a major accident, but they were going slowly so I called my wife. We were able to watch from the curb for the first time. They made quite the noise. Fortunately he only made one pass.

You have a dog or a kid, or something?

Overtime at work, dogs usually don't bother me that early. The sleep deprivation is catching up. Week 3.

Sleep depravation is hard on both body and mind.  I've been there, done that.   You get to the point where you are so exhausted you can't sleep.

Medical cannabis after I retired was the answer, but working guys, especially if you are required to do a urine test, might not have that option.  My issue now is mostly chronic pain.. I was up at 1AM and then 4AM and got back to sleep until the dog woke  me up  at 7:30.

Over the counter sleep stuff doesn't work for me, in fact it has the exact opposite effect, something my GP tells me is common.  Melatonin might help and don't be afraid to take a couple.  Tylenol PM works well for my wife and that is just extra strength Tylenol with Benadryl.

I used Ambien for a short time 15+ years ago, but got a little too dependent on it.  A few sleepless nights when I stopped, but it had the effect of resetting my sleep patterns, so that worked for a while.  Ambien has some bad side effects for some and that often outweighs the good, so it's a last resort.  It needs to  be taken well ahead of bedtime too, so it's not something that you can take when you are having a sleepless night.

It's a tough thing to deal with and an awful lot of people don't understand.  I  hope you can get some rest.

I'm pushing through it, almost done with this job and things will be back to normal. It was just a perfect storm so to speak, I'm the only guy in the shop with the certs, and whom the boss trust to get it done correctly. It's a re-work from another shop, so fixing someone else's mess. Thanks for the understanding and tips, chronic pain is something I want no part of. Carpal tunnels crummy enough.

I'm usually up by 3 am every day; sometimes 3:30 if I'm lucky but I'm usually asleep at 9 pm so 5 1/2 to 6 hours sleep is the norm. Today I woke up at 2 and finally got up at 2:30.

Make a pot of coffee and go out to the garage and work on models while the wife and dogs sleep. Sirius 60's radio keep me company.

Been doing this for so long it's what my body is used to I guess.

4:30 guy here, usually.  Working at 6. 11-1130 lights out. Thankful for coffee and this particular job requiring time to cool off between welds.
