cages

hey guys anyone here be willing to do some cage work. i have tried and tried and have wasted more tube than i care to discuss. am building a couple different cars and need several cages built so if anyone is willing to help a fellow builder out pm me a let me know a price. thanks alot. here is an idea of kinda what i'm looking for. robbed this one from tyrone as he does such good work.

I'd really suggest with just sticking with trying to make it work for you. I jumped into it myself and at first, yeah... I wasted a lot of rod but in the end, every failure only gets you one step closer to success. Here is what I call one of my first success stories. I don't think it came out too bad. Stock car style but there are a lot of bars here and the whole rear stub is all my own as well.

Ditto with the above. I ran through a lot of hair and rod, too, but learned a lot about 1:1 racers while figuring this out. stick with it.

Hang in there Jeremy, I'm not an expert scratch builder by any stretch of anyone's imagination, but there is a learning curve to it just like anything else, and you are going to mess up some material, so stay with it you'll get it!!

I never built a scale Tube chassis until i did my 57 promod, Like you i contacted people to build me a chassis and in the end with some encouragement i did it myself. I wasted alot of rod myself, and i don't care who the builder is even the best guys have waste from stuff not turning out right the first 2 or 3 try's. like suggested above try sticking with it and you will be surprised what you can do, reference pictures are you friend as are other peoples build's. Don't be afraid to ask questions about doing certain parts of the cages etc.

You can do it just collect a lot of pics and keep trying, nice work so far.

Jeremy, the thing is, if you get someone else to build your frame/cages for you, they're going to need not only the exact body you're planning on doing but the same motor gearbox diff to set everything up so it fits. Yes its possible that you could add the bars needed for these but sometimes its easier to fit them in earlier in the roll cage process. I laid out a basic how to for a pro mod chassis here

as I said basic but pretty simple to follow, I have a problem with my hands so cant maintain a grip on things for more than a few seconds, so use brass and solder but the process is exactly the same using styrene. If you muck up a bend and we all do ,cut the bend out of the rod and use the shorter pieces somewhere else, it really cuts down the wastage. I should be around here a bit more often again now so if you need help, sing out. You will notice there is a couple missing pieces of rollcage by the drivers legs but until I finish the interior I'll leave them out and super glue styrene in place.
