59 Impala Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 This is my next project. Here are some pics of the beginning. The first pic is of the real car. The interior started. Paint started. I got the White sprayed on this morning and I'll let that dry and then paint on the Black. I also had to strip the chrome off the front and rear bumpers and will spray them with Alclad. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
59 Impala Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks guys. Can anyone tell me if back in the 60's the super stock cars ran with stock exhaust underneath but disconnected? I'm not sure. I also need to find two sets of headers for Pontiac's. The kit that Revell issued doesn't have headers. Which is kinda dumb cause the GeeTo Tiger is a super stock car. All the parts inside are the same as the stock GTO. Dan
GMCMAN52 Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I checked Bing and on the High Performance Pontiac site it shows several pic's of this car. It stated that the car had Doug Headers and from one pic of the rear you can see exhust pipe exiting from the rear.
59 Impala Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks John. I'll look up that site. Dan
59 Impala Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 Well, I finally got some more done on this car. I had some trouble with the Black paint and had to paint it three times before I was satisfied with it. Here are some pics of how it looks now. Mocked up in White. After sanding the Black for the second time. This is how she looks now in all her glory. I can't wait to get the decals on and see it as the "Tin Indian". Thanks fer lookin. Dan
Guest Posted December 12, 2013 Posted December 12, 2013 Nice so far. Surprised this hasn't been moved to the racing section.
59 Impala Posted December 21, 2013 Author Posted December 21, 2013 Got a couple pics for and update. I worked all week putting these decals on this car. They are Fred Cady decals. Nice, but I really don't care for the two part decals. But, these are the only ones available, so this is what it looks like on the left side. I'll install the decals on the right side this coming week. I'm not in any hurry fer sure. Here it is with the Gold letters on with other decals. Here is the Black letter outlines installed over the Gold. There are a few things that are wrong with these decals. The outline letters for the Knafel Pontiac is Red on the sheet along with the line under the Gold stripe. I had to scan these and then print them as the Black outline and stripe. Akron Ohio should also be Black, but I'm leaving that as is. Also, the Gold for the Indian is the wrong color but I'm leaving that as is also. I do like how this is turning out so far. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
59 Impala Posted December 26, 2013 Author Posted December 26, 2013 I got the right side decals on last night and started to install the BMF today. Here are a couple of pics of how she looks now. More BMF tomorrow and then I have to paint the interior. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
59 Impala Posted December 29, 2013 Author Posted December 29, 2013 Thanks Richard. I got the BMF done tonight and I also drilled holes for pins to represent the wiper shafts on the cowl. Here are a few pics fer ya. I hope ya can see the pin sticking up for the wiper. Thanks fer lookin. Dan
59 Impala Posted January 1, 2014 Author Posted January 1, 2014 Thanks Jeff. I got er done tonight. The last build for this year. Here are some pics fer ya. I really enjoyed building this replica of this car. I've wanted to do this fer a very long time and I finally got er done. I have 50 some pics in my photobucket if anyone would like to take a gander at the build process. I had to make resin copies of the headers from the 68 Firebird kit so I could make this happen, and I had to modify the frame a tad to get them to fit. Thanks fer lookin and HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone. Dan
Skypower Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Wow what a way to end the year. Way to go out with a bang. Excellent job.
