JAFFA Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 (edited) Well this is what i got 4 now... My idea with this project is to get back into the hobby after a few months pause, so i dont want any interruptions while waiting for parts etc. wich would mean just putting it on the shelf and not getting started again. So no advanced stuff, and no parts i aint got at home. Its also a low budget project wich means, spraycan paint and no fancy stuff.. So it wont be a top-finnish job, but at least i'll get something finnished for once.. The "threewheeling position" featured in the kit looked stiff and un-realistic, so i decided to modify the suspension on my own instead, im pretty pleased with the result, allthough i didnt get a good pic of it.. This is also my first real BMF-job, it turned out nicely, even tho i used a thicker aluminum-tape, instead of real BMF (difference is: alu-tape cost 2$/15meters, BMF cost 8$ per a5 paper...) The engine-bay and engine ready for detailing.. About pain, im going for the same blue as you can see here, with a white top, but after looking around i have noticed that there are a whole lot of blue metallic Montes out there, so i think i will be going to get some gold graphics in there too.. And that wraps it up for now, thank you for reading, hope you enjoyed! Edited March 17, 2008 by JAFFA
rollinoldskoo Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 nice color combo u got going there..... don't forget the front cylinders

JAFFA Posted December 5, 2007 Author Posted December 5, 2007 are you opening up the trunk also? Noo, allthough this kit featured some trunk-details... (poorly..) im not, this is a bit of a quicky build, however i am considering a t-top, i aint got my mind made up yet..

JAFFA Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 yea you can.... its a 59 impala vert boot fits real nicely.... Cool.. but i meant the graphics
JAFFA Posted January 6, 2008 Author Posted January 6, 2008 Well i sat down and got some more work done, not much but some a pic of the testfitted body: And a pic of how im painting the rims: I have also started some work on the knockoffs, but they aint done tho.. Next pics will prolly be the body in the first stage of paint. Thanks for reading!
JAFFA Posted January 7, 2008 Author Posted January 7, 2008 gonna add patterns to the roof? Naah! Im gonna try and keep it clean, blue body, white top, and some gold fade-graphics on the hood and sides, just as soon as i decide how im gonna incorporate the gold with the bodys shapes.
JAFFA Posted February 11, 2008 Author Posted February 11, 2008 Ok, heres what ive got done right now: Body in paint, just waiting for clear, wich would prolly be on tomorow, depending on how fast i can get it foiled and "emblemed"; Also sat down and made myself a steeringwheel (DANG! it looks much scrappier on closeup than irl! lol), that little "crack" will be fixed: And started making a 3carb manifold: Well, it may not be the most advanced paintjob, but i just like twotone paintjobs and i wanted to keep it simple. If i managed to do something that you havent seen before im more than satisfied...

Modellpularn Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 (edited) Cool Monte, Jaffa! That will be a sweet paint job. How about some gold around the edges where it meets the white, could be cool, eh? I mean, if you're going to use some gold graphics.... And "rollinoldskoo", that's soo cool of you to offer free parts! Isn't this hobby great? We make friends across the globe, and it's also cool when you actually meet the guys in the US, and instantly you know what the other guy is talking about. We speak styrene! Right, fellas?! Lol, no, i rarely buy "pre customized" kits, this was really my first one, not counting the AMT "Rides Magazine" -67 Impala and the Revell California Wheels H2, and oh the AMT -58 Impala,, the custom wheels from both the H2 and Impala are avaliable for trade if ya want some sick donk stuff...? Otherwise i cant help ya out, ill still PM my address and we can settle things that way. Yeah, Modelpularn, the modeling community is great!!

JAFFA Posted March 17, 2008 Author Posted March 17, 2008 Paint blobs... I was in the midst of foiling this thing, got it wrong, pulled the foil of to redo it, but; the paint ripped of from the body! I fixed it by brush, got some dark little "blobs", wich i thought was just to wetsand off from there, but NAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH........ they really do very well with wetsanding, they DONT go down, should i try to apply some thinner to them and rub them out or what? anyone? Just how its looking so far: And my own little chromed-up appearance:
