bosshog Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 I've got about 2 days left to make up my mind. On ebay it's listed nib and in perfect shape still sealed for 149 prolly take 179 to win it. Yall think it's worth it? I really bad want them but don't wanna pay more than I should. I hope it's OK to post that question here.
blackbeard Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 it all depends on how many people are bidding on that item
Mooneyzs Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Hey Tim.... I will be honest... 3 years ago I picked up 2 of them. Both I paid 120.00 for and the first one I got the decals were BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH and then picked up another for a better set of decals. I know at the time I thought it was a lot and really wanted to build the Army Vega Funny Car so I went ahead with it.
garcen Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Stay patient....I got one in mint condition for under 70 last year.
Adhsdad Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Tim, What really matters is if you can afford $179 or more. If not, don't sweat it. There will be another one on Ebay soon enough, if not right now. Ep

I have done that with many of the 1/16th scale kits that I have gotten. There have been a couple I paid more for but it was because it was one that was a little more rare and haven't seen them on ebay as much.
bosshog Posted January 10, 2014 Author Posted January 10, 2014 the part that really stinks is my dad is losing his battle for life and these two cars always were his pride and joy today they're pretty nasty looking and I'd love to rebuild them to pay homage to him before he dies so he could once again enjoy them Rather its a day or month or for the next 2 years but just can't seem to get my hands on them
sflam123 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 The key to the whole thing is what are YOU willing to pay for it. YOUR circumstances and YOUR situation need to dictate what you are willing to pay. As has been said before, these kits are getting more scarce, but they do show up with some frequency. The fact you are going to build the kit (many of the older kits are being held by "collector's") should also have impact on what you are willing to pay.
bosshog Posted January 11, 2014 Author Posted January 11, 2014 Its too bad I couldn't find just some after market army decals. I've got a donor Vega and I have a beautiful chassis already built
blackbeard Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I got a set from a forum member on here and you can get a hold of ratnasty on this forum
tbusch Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 (edited) Try this Google stang1forever. I tried to copy and paste but it is not letting me do it. he has the funny car and dragster decals in 1/16 scale Terry Edited January 11, 2014 by tbusch

Magic Photos Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Chuck Boerner makes great decals, none better.
bosshog Posted January 26, 2014 Author Posted January 26, 2014 Dumb question. I did get a hold of some decals and I have a donor jungle Jim Monza and it seems pretty close to my gene snow Vega. Do you all think that would be a waste of a body and decal set? I'm not going for a 100% perfect car just something close that displays nice.
Roadrunner Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Obviously the auction has ended by now, but I'd echo the thoughts of the others; stay within your comfort range. I'm looking at a couple of the large scale front engine dragsters right now (my favorites), and I will not pay beyond a certain fixed amount, regardless.
bobthehobbyguy Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 My 2 cents. I would get the decals. You could spend big bucks for a kit and because of the age they may be junk. As far as the body goes I have no clue.
