weirich1 Posted January 26, 2014 Posted January 26, 2014 (edited) This project was going to be an AMT 359 (wrecker) with the Peerless Logging Trailer behind it. Well the frame in that AMT is beyond junk, holy multiple warps! It must have laid around forever along with the old molds, not gonna happen! So here's the recovery, modify a Revell "Snap" Pete to become the prime mover, throw in some parts from the AMT Pete, hook it up to the Logging Trailer, and let 'er roll! And use a Revell Germany Alaskan Hauler front bumper. Pics to follow as work progresses. Edited January 26, 2014 by weirich1
weirich1 Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Just swapped out the Revell snap-Pete tires out for the AMT wrecker tires, what an improvement. The AMT tires with sidewall detail look give a realistic look. 8/10 Revell snap tires had a horrible sidewall bulge that would not seal onto the outer wheels.
weirich1 Posted February 22, 2014 Author Posted February 22, 2014 (edited) Just smoked the rearmost axle trying to get tires to attach; time for some serious repair! OOPS! Update as of 10:53p.m.-- That axle is toast, had to remove it except for the hangers, luckily the "jockey box" from the trailer covers the back section of frame completely. As long as no one asks to see the underside of the tractor, no big deal. Basically the tractor is now single drive. Edited February 23, 2014 by weirich1
