foosh Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Anyone know the different fuel tank capacities of the AMT kits? I know all the WB's and engine/trans combo's but could not calculate the tank sizes. Been building since the T-500 first came out and never though about it until my grandson asked,"Hey grandpa, how many gallons does it hold?"
olsbooks Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Most are in the 100-150 gallon per tank range supplied with most AMT kits. Good luck and have fun!
Bgrgbldr Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 You can do some simple calculations to determine the volume of each tank by measuring the length and height to determine the cubic foot volume.do a Google search for the volume of a cylinder and there will be sites where you can fill in the dimensions and it will do the calcs for you. 1 cubic foot equals 7.48 ( call it 7.5 Gallons). Remember if you read the factory specs fuel tanks are a only supposed to be filled to 80% to allow for expansion.
foosh Posted January 29, 2014 Author Posted January 29, 2014 Okay guys got it figured out. Went to Westmor-ind.com/tank-calculator, easy to use. AMT Pete 359 tanks are 82 gallons. Diamond REO tanks are 66 gal. Got more to do, something to do on a 8 degree night.
Brinx Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Hey Lenny, Don't forget to calculate the correct amount of winter additive you need to add to the diesel on these 8 degree nights! Seriously, thanks for taking the time and sharing the results as I've often wondered the capacities myself! brinx (here un upstate, we're in a "heat-wave" at 25f...wooo hoo!)
