bobthehobbyguy Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Another great project. Are you planing to round the hood corners and doors? Like it unchopped! bobthe hobbyguy
crazyrichard Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 ooh the gun metal one looks awome and btw thats the grille i will be putting in haha ..and no i', keeping the hood and doors as is .. i like them and the rounded hood thing for me it doesnt have enough whow factor to put in that work ...
crazyrichard Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 coming back on the rounded hood , when i went on a nother forum 2 guys came with a better idea , they said make the bar below one piece with the hood , and that to me sounded like a great plan so i imidiatly got the saw and blades out and > before cut out this part because the body became a tad instable i already glued in the radiator for stability glued it on the bottom of the hood and let it stick out just a hair .. so i could sand the transition better with minimal bondo i sanded it and even sanded a more extreme shape to the bottom , like prowling lips haha and gave the sanded seem a rough layer of bondo to make sure its gone when thats dry i can sand everything smooth fitted the bumper and grille to see the look now here you can see the result best flows so much nicer now
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Like what you did with the hood. Looking foward to more. Is this going to be shiny?
Ramfins59 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Richard, this car is looking great. Your custom modifications are very well done. Keep up the great work.
crazyrichard Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 thnx guys and yes it will be shiny sanded it flat and it looks great on the right side it looks odd but thats the chrome bumper reflecting on the hood , i have halogen spotlights on it
bpletcher55 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 RICHARD looks like this will be a nother cool build ,
om617 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Very nice. Looking forward to see how it turns out with some paint,it`s very nice looking already with the subtile mods.
Modlbldr Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Nice looking so far. I'll be watching. I like the unchopped top. Later-
CaptainAhab Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Neat work on the hood, this keeps gettin better and better
crazyrichard Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 thnx , just cut the front window glass , the smal side windows needed to be cut of because i removed the pillars at the side windows .. i was praying it didnt crack , but luckely the glasswork was real thick and stirdy also started work on the engine compartment and smoothened the firewall all those ugly molded lines and parts are gone now ..
crazyrichard Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 whow did hours of dryfitting today , making like a plan how it will al go together later on after paint i already used the kits flathead so i had the second engine option left a chrysler 440 v8 , ford dryfitting in the kit form but i will change some stuff later also you can see the cleaned firewall , the rest on the wing where the molded battery is will be cleaned next and i want a cleaned enginebay with the engine as a centerpiece het the famous flying belt and alternator (not on) whow how ..... need to change that off course and build a nice bracket after a few hours of removing material and dryfitting and getting the body a tad lower on the chassis just by making everything fit well .. this became the ride hight .. so this is the first time everything is together , chassis (on the wheels) with body and interiour on / in .. ride hight to me is perfect suspension still is 100% in tact , everything runs free and the wheels still steer .. the nose job hood sanded .. on the inside i put spacers to get the hood flush with the wings next up the interiour shell , that is sticking a bit above the window openings .. i will ater that the seem where the interiour shell in sitting will be cleaned after fitment , my idea is to mask and bondo the seem and then hand paint over it
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Looking great. Like it with the stock top. Really smooth. bobthehobbyguy
crazyrichard Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 thnx and yes i am glad i did not chop it the proportion of the big sides and roof to me are perfect due to the changes i needed to glue in the dash now and in between teh sides instead of on the front where it should go , with the lowering and all the tub just needed mods to fit ... left a gap for the glass placed the shocks glued on the rear of the bench .. and after this shot flattened that and sanded the seems first paint sand color interiour , i will ad a second color ... still glossy i just sprayed it on so that will dry completly matt and i know the dash need to be the bodycolor , but since it needed to go in already ... so that will be painted whatever color the body will be
slusher Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Excellent work so far Rich, what did you use to clean the firewall with ? Chisel knife....
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Richard, What I really like about this is you haven't done any crazy mods but just cleaned it up however it has unique different look. bobthehobyguy
crazyrichard Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 Excellent work so far Rich, what did you use to clean the firewall with ? Chisel knife.... n i have like different shaped files , like a set ... they are small metal files but work wonders on styrene and bondo .. just filed it smooth .. i use those a lot and when the styrene is still shiny and you file it you can file untill everything go's matt and then sand with fine paper .. and its perfect Richard, What I really like about this is you haven't done any crazy mods but just cleaned it up however it has unique different look. bobthehobyguy yes i agree , although i must admit the amount of work that went into this one amazed me .. like its been a lot of work .. off course if this would have been a revell kit it would have been easyer .. a lot of fitment issues and non perfect casting did cost time .. but in a way this is not a bad thing because its more of a challenge ... maybe nice a before and after the paint dryed more matt already i did not have a spare wheel .. so i went into the partsbox and found the righ diameter tyre , boigger and the trunk wont close due to the hinge .. and put a steelie in there
crazyrichard Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 and if we go clean and glossy why not make the enginecompartment even cleaner > just a start will get more detail
crazyrichard Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) interiour dryed up nice and matt more work on the engine compartment Edited February 15, 2014 by crazyrichard
jack_fletcherr Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I was following your build over on autemo, I have actually went and bought the revell kit because of this! I really like how it is just clean and simple and it's nice to see one that hasn't been chopped for a change. Jack
