Madd Trucker Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I am building an Autocar heavy haul and foundout that ther may be two PTO's one for the hydralics for the trailer and anouther for a chain driven winch and help will greatful on this
olsbooks Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Lots of ways of doing this. One way would be a front mount PTO off the front crankshaft (runs anytime the engine runs) and the other off the transmission (can be disengaged/engaged with the clutch). Lots of cement mixers in my area at least up through the 80's had front mount PTO's for the mixer drum with the big spacing between the grille and bumper. Autocar was easy for this as the radiator was mounted high if I recall and a straight shot with the shaft from the pump to the crank was not that hard. Good luck! Edited May 9, 2018 by olsbooks
txdieseldog Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I have noticed that the front mount is still used for the garbage trucks in our city too.
