Color Ideas Needed!

I write the model column and feature stuff for Muscle Car Review magazine,

and once in a great while I have to actually BUILD a model for the column.

WELLLLLL, this month I have to finish 4, in a week...

The subject is Chevy 'supercars' Yenko, Motion/Baldwin, etc. and I only have one decided so far...

that'll be a Hugger Orange '69 Yenko Camaro, a rep of the 'continuation series' car...

I'll be doing the Motion '69 Camaro, the Motion Vette, and probably the crappy AMT '69 Chevelle as a Yenko...

What colors should they be?

I'm using Tamiya paints except for the Testors on the Camaro...

I remember the Motion cars being a bit gaudier than the Yenkos, so that's a possibility, and yes, I'll keep you posted to the decisions and results.

Here's my two cents.

Vette - TS-20 Metallic Green or TS-11 Maroon

Chevelle - TS-7 Racing White or TS-18 Metallic Red

Camaro - TS-19 Metallic Blue or TS-34 Camel Yellow

I'm sorry, but metallic red was not a '69 Chevelle color.

There is a substantial amount of work that has to go into an AMT '69 Chevelle to make it a Yenko.

I don't know how you can possibly build 4 models in a week. Good luck.

AND, I gotta build the Chevelle kit even tho I have no fondness for it.

YOU, on the other hand, have the best-looking AMT 69 Cgevelle I've ever seen... anywhere! WOW!!!

The stance is PERFECT, the hardware is spot-on, looks better than the 1/1s Ive seen!

I plan to use the chassis out of the AMT '69 Cutlass, which I already have completed, and do a quick Paint/clear/decal/foil/clear on that one... may be the easiest of the four.

I used to do this stuff al the time, without the benefit of deadline/paycheck down the road, have felt kinda cheap lately for not having 'nice' cars for the column, it's a;ll been really old stuff so far.

So, gotta make it happen. Thanks for the inspiration!

Saturday night, bought second '69 Camaro, a Motion kit from Model Mania in Long Beach, GREAT little shop for builders!

Lookin' good for not having to buy more kits, I find I have a few no-gos to choose from in the giant pile o' tubs that store my models...

Not proud of that...

Still thinkin' Hugger Orange for the Yenko, then something brighter for the Motion cars.

Goal: primer for 2 cars by morning!

Personally, I'd go with the Frost Green with white stripes for the Chevelle but that is just me. My first Mustang was Metallic light Green and I have loved it ever since!
