Has anyone used Novus 3-2-1 to polish out Acrylic Enamel (Scalefinishes)?

I have one small area that is duller than the rest of my '58 Corvette. I don't have (and cannot get) Tamiya compounds. Let me know your experience using Novus and/or polishing Acrylic Enamel.

Joe...I searched for somebody that had experience with Novus polishes and found your request for info too!!

I love novus polish I can usually skip the #3 unless I have bad spot of some sort. Which I would sand first to get super smooth

I have used Novus 3 and 2 on a Scalefinishes just last week. I will say that there was something wrong with the paint out of the bottle, it did not cover well, it is still sticky after a week or more and it orange peeled horribly.

So, I tried to polish it out with the Novus and it worked, although some areas are unreachable and cannot be saved. The Novus 3 made the finish cloudy and the Novus 2 polished it up pretty good, except where it cannot reach. I have used the Novus 2 on other Scalefinishes paint and it worked great, polished and smoothed just fine.

This particular car is probably going into the stripper soon. I have another one which I am going to paint with Tamiya rattle cans because I have used everything from automotive lacquer to Testor's enamels and acrylics, all without success. The Scalefinishes normally works perfectly on everything failed on this particular car, which is on it 4th stripping. Jinxed!

But, the Novus works and it works ok on Scalefinishes paints. Just take care not to polish through on edges and such. It don't take much. I've had the best results with just the Novus 2 and skip the 3 and the 1 entirely.

I just tonite used #2 Novus to polish out the paint on a Mysterion I am restoring, and while it was Tamiya paint I was polishing I was surprised at how quickly those high spots started to look bare! I generally use a polishing kit of abrasive cloth but just thought this might be a little gentler on the yellow paint, but looks like you have to be careful. I didn't ruin it (yet...but im planning on staying up a few hours more tonite), but came close.
